Theodore Theodorsen

Theodore Theodorsen (January 8, 1897 – November 5, 1978) was a Norwegian-American theoretical aerodynamicist noted for his work at NACA (the forerunner of NASA) and for his contributions to the study of TURBULENCE. Theodorsen was an innovative practical engineer at a time in which most of his contemporary theoretical aerodynamists were at educational institutions and thus not involved in practical engineering solutions. Theodorsen’s work is especially significant in that it still plays an important role in current research and technology. A significant development was his contribution to the structure of turbulence in a paper honoring Ludwig Prandtl's 75th birthday. The university of turbulence from microphenomena to astrophysics is well known. Turbulence remains the major unsolved domain of fluid mechanics. Theodorsen identified the main turbulence-creating terms in the equations of motion as (q x curl q . curl curl q); he showed that two-dimensional turbulence cannot exist; that vortex lines stretching and bending is the important mechanism and ingredient of turbulence. He also discussed the hierarchy of Vortices (Kolmogorov).

Using a special space simulation chamber at JPL, they first showed that a helicopter could lift off in Mars’ thin atmosphere in 2014 and then in 2016 that it could fly in a controlled way. They proved a helicopter could be built to survive in Mars’ environment and operate as designed in January 2018, by flying a helicopter test model in the chamber with the full functionality that would be required for Mars. In January 2019, the team completed test flights with the actual helicopter that will ride with Perseverance to the Red Planet, demonstrating its capabilities in Mars-like conditions. Taking off from the surface of Mars and hovering will confirm these previous tests and give practical insight into operating a helicopter on Mars.

Ingenuity is intended to demonstrate technologies needed for flying in the Martian atmosphere. If successful, these technologies could enable other advanced robotic flying vehicles that might be included in future robotic and human missions to Mars. Among the possible uses of a future helicopter on Mars: offering a unique viewpoint not provided by our current orbiters high overhead or by rovers and landers on the ground; high-definition images and reconnaissance for robots or humans; and access to terrain that is difficult for rovers to reach. A future helicopter could even help carry light but vital payloads from one site to another.

Subway Surfers is an endless runner mobile game co-developed by Kiloo and SYBO Games, private companies based in Denmark. It is available on Android, iOS, Kindle, and Windows Phone platforms and uses the Unity game engine. In the game, players take the role of young graffiti artists who, upon being caught in the act of applying graffiti to ("tagging") a metro railway site, run through the railroad tracks to escape from the inspector and his dog. As they run, they grab gold coins, power-ups and other items along the way while simultaneously dodging collisions with trains and other objects, and can also jump on top of the trains and surf with hover boards to evade the capture until the character crashes on an obstacle, getting caught by the inspector or getting hit by a train. Special events, such as the Weekly Hunt, can result in in-game rewards and characters. Subway Surfers was released on 24 May 2012 with updates based on seasonal holidays. Since January 2013, updates have been based on a "World Tour" theme, which updates the setting of the game every three (or four, usually for seasonal holidays) weeks. In 2017, Subway Surfers was the most downloaded game across the globe.

Whitewoods - Beach Walk

Lyrics

She pressed her feet across the boardwalk
She keeps the sunset right with movement in her eyes
She knows she gets away with murder
Swallows up your heart of gold
And I don't know just where we've got to go

Whoa-oh
Oh
Whoa-oh

This sound is giving for the postman
Another one that's feeling under aurora skies
The summer sleeps in time for autumn
Sticking down your leaves on grass
And I don't know just where we've got to go

Whoa-oh
Oh
Whoa-oh

Whitewoods are an American musical duo, noted for their production of Vaporware and Chillwave music including the albums Spaceship Earth and Play the Game, and the singles Free Ross Anthem and Beach Walk. The single Beach Walk proved to be Whitewoods most popular track, due to the fact that former MLG parody YouTuber turned commentator Pyrocynical uses the song in both the intro and outro of his video's. Whitewoods has confirmed that a third album is in the works.

Home™ is the thirteenth studio album by American electronic musician Vektroid (under her alias PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises), released on April 20, 2013 by Beer on the Rug. Released simultaneously alongside ClearSkies™ under her PrismCorp alias, both albums contrast her previous releases, which had a primary focus on samples. The two albums consist primarily of original MIDI-styled compositions, much akin to computer and video game music released during the 1990s and 2000s; Home™ additionally incorporates original MIDI covers of obscure music into its release, and it has been the first Vektroid release to use the PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises alias.

Roads and Boats - 1-800 (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

df81d2e273c78e36592703288b383b61.jpg

In Roads & Boats, players start with a modest collection of donkeys, geese, boards, and stone. With these few materials, players work to develop their civilization. The emphasis in the game is logistical transport as you bring goods to producers to make new goods. But beware, the only thing you own is what is on your transporters, and anyone can use any production facility, or pick up any goods left behind.

In more detail, this massive set of pieces looks more like a modular game kit than anything else. You get a ton of Settlers-sized hexes in a number of colors for terrain type; hundreds of little counters for the commodities that are produced and the locations where they're produced; wooden disks for all of the donkeys, rafts, trucks, and other forms of transportation you can use; and a roll of acrylic with an erasable marker. The tiles are laid out in whatever scenario you wish to play, and then the clear plastic is taped over the top to secure the entire board. Roads and bridges are drawn on the plastic and chits are placed in the hexes to form the playing surface. The idea is that your transportation units (at first, a fleet of donkeys) travel about and pick items that part produced. However, the only thing that you own is that which is carried by your transports. So you might have a nice, shiny, new truck factory or a gold-filled mine, but anyone can use it or take it, if they collect the necessary components and can transport them to the factory. The ultimate goal is to collect wealth, which is progressively more valuable and harder to manufacture: gold, coins, or stock certificates; and also contribute to the game timer in the form of monument blocks for victory points.

For its 20th Anniversary, Roads & Boats has an edition that contains the &cetera expansion: Roads & Boats: 20th Anniversary Edition

Emerald Hill Zone (エメラルドヒル Emerarudo Hiru?, lit. "Emerald Hill") is the first Zone of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It is a tropical paradise on the shores of West Side Island. Although Emerald Hill Zone is not visited by Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends quite as often as with Green Hill Zone, the Zone remains nonetheless a frequently recurring locale within the super-speedy hedgehog's adventures. As with most other Zones in this game, Emerald Hill Zone consists of two standard Acts with a boss fight at the end of Act 2.

Kattch - Será

a2552310243_10.jpg

One of the greatest aspects of music is its unique storytelling approach. Many artists and bands alike create songs in which their lyrics provide a connection to their audiences, allowing them to tell their stories while also having the listeners be a part of it. However, sometimes this formula is challenged by either lyric-less songs or maybe just a sample from a phone call. The synth-heavy sound of Kattch’s song “Será” follows the latter. With its combination of synthwave beats and disco baseline, the audience is treated to piece of music that expels previous ideas of storytelling with its one simple inclusion of a phone call which breaks the song into two separate pieces of an overarching story.

Released Jan 22, 2018, “Será” is Kattch’s newest single via Future Society, a Boston, MA based record label with an emphasis on future funk vibes and beats. Kattch’s previous release was an upbeat disco EP titled On Set that made for an instant dance classic. “Será” is different. It takes its time building up with a slow melody, not often heard from a Kattch song. Within the first minute of the song, the listener is exposed to keyboard notes that almost sound like the twinkle of a starlit night, but then the onrush of synth and disco sounds are followed soon after. The build-up to this point is as if a realisation or idea had made itself present. The first part of this story was a slow build of rhythm that progresses into a heavy hitting beat that begins to materialise into something we can clearly see. The song continues with this consistent tempo until the halfway point of the song – the phone call. We hear a ringing of a phone, and then it’s picked up. A conversation between a man and a woman is heard. They are speaking Spanish.

giphy (6).gif
a7cc7f559a427e7e36f24957d99b39e2.gif

(Kattch is from Mexico; speaking Spanish would be common for him. We’ve gone ahead and translated the conversation into English.)

Woman: Hello? *cut off*
Man: How are you?
Woman: Well, and you?
Man: Hey, there’s a very good function today, and I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies?

And with one phone call, we see the story clearly – a man looking to go on a date with none other than Será. From this point, the second half of the story is seen. The baseline and drum beat change, going into triplets and becoming faster in pace. If the sudden shift in the first half of the song resembled the slow decision to call Sera, this faster melody would have to be the excitement his heart feels after the call. We have a steady progression and flow through the track, and each part signifies a part in the man’s head and heart. We took a journey with him, feeling his every emotion through Kattch’s use of altering baselines, drum beats, and overall pace. A calm heart that soon became bustling once the decision to call was made. Afterward, the beat intensifies, which leaves the listener to believe that Será said “yes.” The love affair is complete – the man now has a date.

b6affa212362c0d0-starydraws-starco-rain-

This is the beauty of “Será,” a simple tale of man loves woman told through nothing but rhythm and beautiful melodies. It’s a song that speaks volumes without having to utilize vocals, and with each kick of the drum or pressing of a key, the listener is wrapped further into the story. Kattch has created something magical, and his continuation with Future Society is something we are very much looking forward to in 2018. Be sure to keep an eye on him, because he’s someone you will not want to miss.
