If I wait for just a second more,
I know I'll forget what I came here for,
My head was so full of things to say,
But as I open my lips all my words slip away
And anyway,
I can't believe you want to turn the page,
And move your life onto another stage,
You can change the chapter you can change the book,
But the story remains the same if you'd take a look.
For the times we've had I don't want to be, a page in your diary babe,
For the good, the bad I don't want to see, a page in your diary babe,
For the happy, the sad, I don't want to be another page in your diary.
Perhaps if I held you I could win again,
I could take your hands we'd talk and maybe then,
That look in your eyes I always recognize,
Would tell me everything is gonna be fine,
You're gonna be mine
For a long time
For the times we've had I don't want to be, a page in your diary babe,
For the good, the bad I don't want to see, a page in your diary babe,
For the happy, the sad, I don't want to be another page in your diary.

"Nobody's Diary" is a song recorded by British synthpop band Yazoo. It was released in May 1983 as the first and only single from their second and last album, You and Me Both. The song was written by Alison Moyet and produced by Yazoo, Eric Radcliffe and Daniel Miller. "Nobody's Diary" peaked at number three in the UK Singles Chart. Moyet wrote "Nobody's Dairy" around the age of 16, at a time when she was playing in bands in the South East Essex area. It was one of the last songs to be recorded for You and Me Both. Clarke recalled in 2008: "It immediately stood out to be the track that should be released as a single. "Nobody's Diary" was recorded at Radcliffe's Blackwing Studios and mastered at Townhouse Studios. The song has a tempo of 129 beats per minute.
YAZOO consist of Alison Moyet and Vince Clark.
The single's cover—designed by Steven Appleby with the sleeve produced by Acrobat Design—depicts a "rather hip young man in a bathtub [who] seems to have forgotten to turn off the water, so intent is he on his private thoughts. Mute Records released an additional second and limited edition 12-inch single of the song in the UK with "Situation" on the flip side. "Situation" appears on the U.S. version of the band's previous album "Upstair's at Eric's (although it was added to the UK track list in later pressings). Sire Records released "Nobody's Diary" in the United States with You and Me Both album track "State Farm" as a double A-side. "State Farm" was not included on the UK version of You and Me Both. The double A-side hit number one on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart in July 1983.

China Crisis - "Wishful Thinking" (1983)
It's time we should talk about it
There's no secret kept in here
Forgive me for asking
Now wipe away your tears
And if I wish to stop it all
And if I wish to comfort the fall
It's just wishful thinking
I sat on the roof
And watched the day go by
I see the likeness in his smile and the way he stands
Makes it all worthwhile
And if I wish to stop it all
And if I wish to comfort the fall
It's just wishful thinking
It's time we should talk about is
There's no secret kept in here
I see the likeness in his smile and the way he stands

China Crisis is a British pop/rock group formed in 1979 in Kirkby on Merseyside, with a core band of vocalist/keyboardist Garry Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon. They've produced pop music similar in style to that of the new romantic movement. Yet they've also had strong similarities to the post-punk movement of the early 80's, particularly inclusion of a broader range of musical influences and occasional flirtation with political commentary. Sharing an affection for Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, and Brian Eno, Daly and Lundon had become burned out from playing with various Knowsley post-punk groups. Daly quit school and then spent much of his time indoors tinkering with synthesizers and a drum machine. Along with Lundon, Daly began writing songs using his high-tech toys. Feeling creatively stifled by the drum machine, the pair eventually asked percussionist Dave Reilly to join them, and in 1982 they released the single "African & White" as China Crisis on the independent label Inevitable. Later re-released by Virgin Records, "African & White" was also China Crisis' first hit in the U.K..
Throughout their career, China Crisis has seen moderate success in the United Kingdom, western Europe, Australia,Philippines and the Americas. Adding Gary "Gazza" Johnson and Kevin Wilkinson to the lineup, they recorded their debut album Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms. Another single, "Christian", hit U.K. #12, followed by two singles from second album, Working with Fire and Steel Possible Pop Songs, Vol. 2. China Crisis spent 1984-1985 making their biggest chart run, beginning with their first top-ten hit, "Wishful Thinking". Third album Flaunt the Imperfection was produced by the sympathetic Walter Becker, and resulted in the hit singles "Black Man Ray" and "King in a Catholic Style (Wake Up)". The album was followed up in 1986 with What Price Paradise, though China Crisis worked with Becker once more on 1989's Diary of a Hollow Horse, which earned critical raves though not much commercial movement.
Sometimes misunderstood by critics, China Crisis distinguished themselves from Liverpudlian peers like Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, The Teardrop Explodes, and Echo & The Bunnymen by digesting a cornucopia of musical genres, everything from jazz to progressive rock. Despite the stylistic deviations, China Crisis maintained their distinctive sound through a number of albums in the '80s and '90s. Tragically, Wilkinson hanged himself on July 17, 1999. In 2000, Daly contributed a track to a tribute compilation to Wilkinson, Green Indians.

Sending you forget me nots
To help me to remember
Baby please forget me not
I want you to remember
Sending you forget me nots
To help me to remember
Baby please forget me not
I want you to remember
Those were the times we had
Sharing a joy that we thought would last
Memories of love and affection
Never really was just like a dream
Was it the simple things
That made me so crazy about you
Was it your charm or your passion
It's not hard to believe
I love you and i need you so i...
Sending you forget me nots
To help me to remember
Baby please forget me not
I want you to remember
Sending you forget me nots
To help me to remember
Baby please forget me not
I want you to remember
Did we give up too soon
Maybe we needed just a little room
Wondering how it all happened
Maybe we just need a little time
Though we did end as friends
Given the chance we could love again
She'll always love you forever
It's not hard to believe
I want you and i need you so i...
Sending you forget me nots
To help me to remember
Baby please forget me not
I want you to remember
Sending you forget me nots
To help me to remember
Baby please forget me not
I want you to remember
Sending you forget me nots
Baby please forgive me not
Good times we had...
They weren't so bad...
What a life we shared...
Pretty baby I still care...

The Best Of Sister Sledge (1973-1985)
Hey Frankie?!
I was walking down the street one day
When I looked up I saw a friend.
Hey
Frankie - do you remember me?
He looked at me and then I blushed
'Cause I remembered I loved you so much.
Way back then we were friends going together
But then you left me.
Frankie - do you remember me? Frankie - do you remember?
You were fifteen
I was twelve
It was summer
We were so in love.
I never loved anyone this much
Look at me
I'm thrilled to your touch.
Hey
Frankie - do you remember me?
Frankie - do you remember me?
Oh
How you brought me down - down
Down.
All I did was runnin' around - around.
You'll never know how much I loved you.
Frankie - do you remember? Do you remember me? Frankie -
You walked me to the Deli
Then we sat in the booth where it all began.
I looked into your big eyes
And I said to myself we coulda have twins.
Hey
Frankie - do you remember me?
Oh
How you brought me down - down
Down. . . .
He looked at me and then I blushed
. . .
Frankie - do you remember me? Do you remember me
Me?
Frankie
My Frankie

Sister Sledge is an American musical vocal group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 1971, the group consisted of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim, and Kathy Sledge. The siblings achieved international success at the height of the disco era. In 1979, they released their breakthrough album, We Are Family, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and included the 1979 US top-10 singles "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family". A third single "Lost in Music" reached the US top 40. "We Are Family" earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Their other US singles include a 1982 remake of Mary Wells' 1964 hit "My Guy", "Mama Never Told Me" (1973), and "Thinking of You" (1984), before reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart with the song "Frankie" in 1985. Remixed versions of three of their singles in 1993 returned them to the UK Top 20. Although Kathy undertook a solo career in 1989, she continued to tour with the group (with Kathy occasionally rejoining for one-off performances and several releases in the 1990s). In 2015, Sister Sledge performed for Pope Francis at the World Festival of Families in Philadelphia.
Natives of Philadelphia, the sisters: Debra Elaine "Debbie" Sledge (born July 9, 1954), Joan Elise "Joni" Sledge (September 13, 1956 – March 10, 2017), Kim Sledge (born August 21, 1957), and Kathy Sledge (born January 6, 1959) are the daughters of Broadway tap dancer Edwin Sledge (1923–1996) and actress Florez Sledge (née Williams; 1928–2007) The sisters were given vocal training by their grandmother Viola Williams, a former lyric soprano opera singer and protégé of civil rights leader Mary McLeod Bethune. Under Viola’s guidance, they regularly sang at their family church, Williams Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal until forming a band and performing at charity and political events throughout Philadelphia, aptly named Mrs Williams’ Grandchildren. The sisters graduated from Olney High School: Debbie in 1972, Joni in 1974, Kim in 1975, and Kathy in 1977. By the end of the decade, all four sisters graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Williams Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal
The group toured much of the East Coast, including New York, New Jersey, and home town Philadelphia with Florez acting as their manager (and tour bus driver) and Debbie as musical director. They released their first single "Time Will Tell" in 1971 on local music label Money Back. In 1973, they released the single "Mama Never Told Me", which became a top-20 hit in the UK in 1975, but with the Patrick Grant and Gwen Guthrie single "Love Don’t Go Through No Changes On Me" (released in 1974), the siblings enjoyed their first success. The song was a big hit in Japan, and as a result, the girls were flown to the country to perform at the Tokyo Music Festival, where they won the Silver Prize. The sisters also performed at the Zaire 74 concert in Africa alongside James Brown during the Rumble in the Jungle boxing event.
Williams Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church was founded January 7, 1886 by Rev. McBride, Rev. Ferbee, W.H. Robinson and J.H. Frazier. The original site was located in the 1200 block of South Shedwick St. This site was demolished for the construction of a tunnel and railroad tracks for the Baltimore and Ohio railway. The Church then named Union Station by Rev. N.H. Crisden, relocated to 1325 S. Warfield St. In 1907, the land for this present site, 3133 Reed Street was purchased. In 1910, the church was renamed Williams Temple in honor of our sixth elected Bishop, Robert S. Williams, who was a devoted friend. With prayer, faith and personal sacrifices, in 1944, the $6000 thousand mortgage was paid off under the leadership of Pastor, Rev. E.T. Wood. Rev. Elton F. Woodard had the longest tenure as a Pastor. He was appointed in 1954, and though visually handicapped he led the congregation with dignity for 29 years, and had numerous accomplishments.
Joni Sledge, born September 13, 1956, died of natural causes at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday, March 10, 2017. She was 60 years old. Following Joni's death, Debbie and Kim announced that they will continue to perform as Sister Sledge

Captured effortlessly
That's the way it was
Happened so naturally
I did not know it was love
The next thing I felt was you
Holding me close
What was I gonna do?
I let myself go
And now we're flyin' through the stars
I hope this night will last forever
I've been waitin' for you
It's been so long
I knew just what I would do
When I heard your song
Filled my heart with your bliss
Gave me freedom
You knew I could not resist
I needed someone
And now we're flyin' through the stars
I hope this night will last forever
Oh oh oh oh
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you
I wait for night time to come
And bring you to me
I can't believe I'm the one
I was so lonely
I feel like no one could feel
I must be dreamin'
I want this dream to be real
I need this feelin'
I make my wish upon a star
And hope this night will last forever
Oh oh oh oh
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you
First you put your arms around me
Then you put your charms around me
I can't resist this sweet surrender
Oh my nights are warm and tender
We stare into each other's eyes
And what we see is no surprise
Got a feeling most would treasure
And a love so deep we cannot measure
Ain't nobody
Loves me better
Makes me happy
Makes me feel this way
Ain't nobody
Loves me better than you

Yvette Marie Stevens (born March 23, 1953), better known by her stage name Chaka Khan, is an American musician, singer and songwriter. Her career has spanned nearly five decades, beginning in the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the funk band Rufus. Known as the "Queen of Funk", Khan was the first R&B artist to have a crossover hit featuring a rapper, with "I Feel for You" in 1984. Khan has won ten Grammy Awards and has sold an estimated 70 million records worldwide.
Chaka Khan was born Yvette Marie Stevens on March 24th, 1953 into an artistic, bohemian household in Chicago, Illinois. The eldest of five children born to Charles Stevens and Sandra Coleman, she has described her father as a beatnik and her mother as "able to do anything." She was raised in the Hyde Park area, "an island in the middle of the madness" of Chicago's rough South Side housing projects. Her sister Yvonne later became a successful musician in her own right under the name Taka Boom. Her only brother, Mark, who formed the funk group The Jamaica Boys and was a member of Aurra, also became a successful musician. She has two other sisters, Zaheva Stevens and Tammy McCrary.

Khan was raised as a Catholic, she attended the elementary school of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in Hyde Park. She attributed her love of music to her grandmother, who introduced her to jazz as a child. Khan became a fan of rhythm and blues music as a preteen and at eleven formed a girl group, the Crystalettes, which included her sister Taka. In the late 1960s, Khan attended several civil rights rallies with her father's second wife, Connie, a strong supporter of the movement, and joined the Black Panther Party after befriending a fellow member, activist and Chicago native Fred Hampton in 1967. Though many think that she was given the name Chaka while in the Panthers, she has made it clear that her name Chaka Adunne Aduffe Hodarhi Karifi was given to her at age 13 by a Yoruba Baba. In 1969, she left the Panthers and dropped out of high school, having attended Calumet High School and Kenwood High School (now Kenwood Academy). She began to perform in small groups around the Chicago area, first performing with Cash McCall's group Lyfe, which included her then-boyfriend Hassan Khan. Chaka and Hassan married in 1970.

She was asked to replace Baby Huey of Baby Huey & the Babysitters after Huey's death in 1970. The group disbanded a year later. While performing in local bands in 1972, Khan was spotted by two members of a new group called Rufus and soon won her position in the group (replacing rock n roll singer Paulette McWilliams). The group caught the attention of musician Ike Turner who flew them out to Los Angeles to record at his studio Bolic Sound in Inglewood, California. Turner wanted Khan to become an Ikette: she declined stating she was "really happy with Rufus. But Ike's attention was certainly a boost." Khan is Vegan, saying she adopted the diet to lose weight and combat high blood pressure and Type-2 diabetes. In th epast, Khan struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism. Her drug use, which at times included cocaine and heroin, ended in the early 1990s. Khan had an on-and-off struggle with alcoholism until 2005, declaring herself sober. In 2006, her son Damien Holland was accused of murder after 17-year-old Christopher Bailey was shot dead. Khan testified on her son's behalf. Holland claimed the shooting was an accident. He was acquitted in the criminal trial and found liable in the civil suit.

Somewhere out in the back of your mind
(Somewhere)
Comes your real life and the life that you know
It seems like it was the creation of some of those same old things
It seemed to be the only thing left out in the light
She had trusted many
But been unfamiliar with
Almost everyone but you
Well, maybe, I'm just thinking
That the rooms are all on fire
Every time that you walk in the room
Well, there is magic all around you
If I do say so myself
I have known this
Much longer than I've known you
She had trusted many
And then there would be someone who would enter into her presence
That she could sense for miles
She dreamed of her wanton luxury
And she laughed and she cried and she tried to taunt him
And he hated
To be separated
From that picture
No
Well, maybe, I'm just thinking
That the rooms are all on fire
Every time that you walk in the room
Ooh, well, there is magic all around you
If I do say so myself
Well, I have known this
Much longer than I've known you
Long nets of white cloud my memory
Long nets of white cloud my memory
Ooh, there is magic
All around you
Every time you walk in the
Well, maybe, I'm just thinking
That the rooms are all on fire
Every time that you walk in the room
Well, there is magic all around you
If I do say so myself
Well, I have known this
Much longer than I've known you
Well, maybe, I'm just thinking
That the rooms are all on fire (well, maybe I'm just thinking that the rooms)

Stephanie Lynn Nicks (born May 26, 1948) is an American singer and songwriter known for her work with the band Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. She is known for her distinctive voice, mystical stage persona and poetic, symbolic lyrics. Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 along with her then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham. Rumours, Fleetwood Mac's second album after the incorporation of Nicks and Buckingham, was the best-selling album of the year of its release and to date has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best selling albums of all time. The album remained at number one on the American albums chart for 31 weeks and reached number one in other countries. The album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1978. It produced four U.S. Billboard Hot 100 top-ten singles, with Nicks' "Dreams" being the band's only Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit. In 1981, while remaining a member of Fleetwood Mac, Nicks began her solo career, releasing the studio album Bella Donna, which topped the Billboard 200 and has reached multiplatinum status. She has released eight solo studio albums.
Nicks was named one of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time by Rolling Stone. She is the only woman to have been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and as a solo artist in 2019. She has garnered eight Grammy Award nominations and two American Music Award nominations as a solo artist. She has won numerous awards with Fleetwood Mac, including a Grammy Award and five Grammy Award nominations.
Stephanie "Stevie" Nicks was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona to Jess (July 2, 1925 – August 10, 2005), and Barbara Nicks (November 12, 1927 – December 29, 2011). Nicks is of German, English and Irish ancestry. Nicks's grandfather, Aaron Jess "A.J." Nicks Sr., taught Nicks to sing duets with him by the time she was four years old. Nicks's mother was protective, keeping her at home "more than most people" and fostered in her daughter a love of fairy tales. Toddler Stephanie could pronounce her own name only as "tee-dee", which led to her nickname of "Stevie". Her father's frequent relocation as the president of Greyhound had the family living in Phoenix, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; Los Angeles; and San Francisco. With the Goya Guitar that she received for her 16th birthday, Nicks wrote her first song, titled "I've Loved and I've Lost, and I'm Sad but Not Blue". She spent her adolescence playing records constantly, and lived in her "own little musical world". While attending Arcadia High School in Arcadia, California, she joined her first band, the Changing Times, a folk rock group focused on vocal harmonies.

Nicks met her future musical and romantic partner, Lindsey Buckingham, during her senior year at Menio-Atherton High School in Atherton, California. When she saw Buckingham playing "California Dreamin" at Young Life club, she joined him in harmony. She recalled, "I thought he was a darling." Buckingham was in a psychedelic rock band, Fritz, but two of its musicians were leaving for college. He asked Nicks in mid-1967 to replace the lead singer. Fritz later opened for Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin from 1968 until 1970. Nicks credits the acts as having inspired her stage intensity and performance. Both Nicks and Buckingham attended San Jose State University, where Nicks majored in speech communication and planned to become an English teacher. With her father's blessing, Nicks dropped out of college to pursue a musical career with Buckingham.

Snowy White - Bird of Paradise
Saw you flying by
Flash of Turquoise Blue
I just had to try
To keep your life in view
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
Wish that I could fly
I'd be beside you now
But I can only sigh
And watch you circle round
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
Sweet bird of paradise
My bird of paradise
So you fly away
When will you come again
So I can watch you play
In the pouring rain
My bird of paradise

He is also known for his 1983 solo offering "Bird of Paradise", which became a UK Singles Chart Top 10 hit single.
Guitarist Snowy White barely knew who Pink Floyd were when he joined them on tour in 1977. He would wind up performing with Roger Waters for decades.

White grew up on the Isle of Wight, self-taught as a guitarist, having received his first guitar from his parents at the age of ten. He moved to Stockholm in 1965 at the age of seventeen, spending more than a year there playing in a trio called the Train. In 1968 he purchased his signature guitar, a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. By 1970 he made his way to London and found work as a session player and as a member of Heavy Heart. During this time he met Peter Green and the two began a lifelong friendship (White later appeared on Green's album "In the Skies". In the 1960s Snowy White went on to play with Island Friends Patrick Bradley and Les Payne.

White had been recommended to Pink Floyd by Kate Bush's former manager Hilary Walker, as they were looking for an additional guitarist for the live band on the Animals tour in 1977. White's solo on "Pigs on the Wing" (it appears on the 8-track version), was his first time playing for the band. During the tour, White started off the show by playing bass guitar on the song "Sheep", as well as soloing during "Have a Cigar" and "Shine on You Crazy Diamond Part VIII". In 1979 Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham, having seen White play with Pink Floyd in New York City during the Animals tour, approached him about joining Thin Lizzy. The collaboration with these two bands was very complicated; the invitation to rehearse the live show of "The Wall" for Pink Floyd, happened at the same time he was invited to become a full-time member of Thin Lizzy, with whom he recorded/co-wrote their Chinatown and Renegade albums, White left Thin Lizzy in August 1982.

White's connection to Pink Floyd continued in later decades. White was invited by former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters to perform at The Wall Concert in Berlin in 1990, by the ruins of the Berlin Wall, along with other artists. Waters also called on White in 1991 for the "Guitar Legends" concert, in Seville. David Gilmour was the guest on White's 1994 album Highway to the Sun, appearing on the track "Love, Pain and Sorrow", with Gilmour playing his Digitech Whammy pedal-induced Fender Stratocaster, which was recorded at Gilmour's houseboat studio, The Astoria. White formed a new band in 2008 named the Snowy White Blues Project. In Our Time of Living was released in April 2009. The group featured Matt Taylor: guitar/vocals, Ruud Weber: bass/vocals, Juan van Emmerloot: drums, and Snowy White: guitar/vocals. Due to health issues, he announced his retirement from playing live in 2019. In 2020, he released the album Something On Me. White toured with Waters in The Dark Side of the Moon Live tour from June 2006, having played in Europe, North America, Australia, Asia and South America. He also performed with Waters at Live Earth. White has recorded five albums with his White Flames band. The first three were No Faith Required in 1996, Little Wing in 1998 and Keep Out: We Are Toxic in 1999.
By Janey Roberts.
On the third night of July during the summer of 1977, I entered New York City’s Madison Square Garden in anticipation of seeing one of the greatest bands in Rock and Roll History. Pink Floyd had already achieved legendary status in the nineteen seventies with the success they had with albums such as Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. The 1977 tour was in support of their newest release entitled "Animals." Tickets for the Pink Floyd show cost ten dollars for lower level seats, which is about the price of a pretzel in a 2015 concert hall. It had been an amazing start to the summer of 1977 for fans of rock concerts. Only a couple weeks earlier my friends and I had seen Led Zeppelin perform at Madison Square Garden. During the same month of June we saw the 1977 Fleetwood Mac Rumor’s tour performance in the same venue. Later that summer during the month of August, we also saw Yes, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer's “Works” eighty piece orchestra concert at the Garden.
As we sat waiting for Pink Floyd to take the stage, smoke began to fill the Garden. In the 1970s, smoking had still been allowed in public arenas. However, half the smoke that filled the area did not just derive from the tobacco plant. A combination of tobacco and marijuana smoke filtered through the remnants of gun powder adversely affecting the eyes, ears and throats of about eighteen thousand rock and roll fans; some innocent, some not. As it was the eve of the Fourth of July, many fans had taken it upon themselves to test their Fourth of July fireworks in the great arena of Madison Square Garden. It was not uncommon for fireworks to be set off during rock concerts in the 1970’s. However, the proximity to the Fourth of July set the tone for an unusual amount of detonation on that third of July evening. It would be an issue that would be addressed by a public announcement and then eventually by Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters half way through the show.
When writing about a concert seen forty years in the past, it can be difficult to remember every detail of the show. However, certain aspects of a Pink Floyd concert were presented on such a grand scale, they are forever burned into ones’ memory. The majority of rock concerts in the nineteen seventies had opening acts, but Pink Floyd performed alone. The stage was barren except for the presence of a large circular screen set behind the drums at the rear center of the stage. Pink Floyd did not start the concert on time. It was pretty common for bands of rock god status to open concerts usually thirty to sixty minutes late. Only a few weeks earlier, Led Zeppelin had started their concert ninety minutes late at the Garden. But, when bands like Floyd or Zeppelin finally hit the stage, all is forgiven quite quickly.
Pink Floyd opened the concert with the song “Sheep,” which was the first track on their Animals album. The band extended the opening of the song with a slow keyboard based improvisational jam that eventually gave way to the introduction of the band in full force. Many bands would hit the stage full throttle from the opening note, but Pink Floyd slowly eased in, echoing their recorded works. Pink Floyd went on to perform the entire Animals album which had just been released. Only bands with the iconic status of a Pink Floyd could get away with playing an entire new album to start a concert.
Many bands in the nineteen seventies would utilize laser light shows as part of their performance. Pink Floyd employed a somewhat different technique in entertaining their audience. While Pink Floyd performed the song “Dogs” a huge black curtain opened from behind the stage. From out behind the curtain, floated gigantic parade style balloons of farm animals, specifically, dogs, sheep and of course, pigs. Sitting in Madison Square Garden while looking up at floating farm animals while Pink Floyd jammed violently on the stage was a somewhat surreal experience that was also quite entertaining.
As Pink Floyd performed the music of Animals, the dynamics of the music dictated the lighting on the stage. On the slower passages, the lights would dim low, while during the faster and louder passages the lighting filled the arena as if the house lights had been turned on. It was during one of the softer passage that an incident occurred that I had never seen before at a rock concert. While Pink Floyd was performing the Animals album, the band had come to a passage in which the lights dimmed all the way down and there were a few second of silence as the band was transitioning between pieces. I believe the incident started at the beginning of “Pigs on the Wing.” It was completely dark and silent in the arena as Pink Floyd’s performance had captivated the audience into an almost spellbinding state. There was the sound of wind slowly starting to resonate from Pink Floyd’s concert speakers. Then in those short moments of darkness and silence, one foolish concert goer ignited an M80 or a blockbuster right in front of the stage. (A blockbuster was a firework equivalent to a half a stick of dynamite, while an M80 was equivalent to a quarter stick of dynamite.) As if almost choreographed as part of the show, a small spotlight lit up a silhouette of Roger Waters standing at the edge of the stage. It at first seemed as if he was about to begin the next part of the piece. However the silence continued as Roger Waters stared angrily into the crowd. Roger Waters raised his arm and pointed to a fan in the audience. In the most angry voice I had ever heard a rock performer speak with to a crowd, Roger Waters raged at the fan saying “You stupid Mother F##ker, why doesn’t anyone else in here with fireworks just F##k off and let the rest of us get on with it.” The crowd at first was silent, because it was such a dramatic moment and it still almost felt as if had been part of the show. But the intensity of the firework explosion and the deep anger in Waters voice made it evident that it had been a very foolish act by the fan that could have had dire consequences.
After Rogers had cursed out the fan, the stunned crowed erupted with applause. The stage went silent for quite some time after what Roger Waters had said. Many of us had thought the show might not continue. There was a definite tension and concern in the crowd that one idiot might have just ruined the concert for eighteen thousand fans. But after about a ten minute pause, in which you could only assume members of Pink Floyd were trying to calm Rogers Waters down, the band began to play “Pigs on the Wing.” If you had attended that concert, it was a moment you would have never forgotten. Every time I see a pictures of Roger Waters, It brings me back to that moment in time seeing the anger on his face and the sheer rage in his voice.
The explosion of the blockbuster was louder than the band had been the entire concert. Bootlegs recordings of that concert define the experience of being in that building when the gunpowder had been lit. The limited frequency response of recording tape could never capture the dynamic range of such an explosion of gun powder that was ignited that night. New York City’s Madison Square Garden was one of the loudest venues in the world due to the natural reverberation present in the hall. If you have ever heard how loud the igniting of an M80 or Blockbuster firework can be, multiply that by ten and imagine it going off in the darkness. In the present day, it is unimaginable the panic that would ensue in an arena if that had happened in today world filled with a history of terrorism acts we have all witnessed since the turn of the century. Furthermore, in the present day you cannot even bring a bottle of Pepsi into a concert arena. Back in the sixties and seventies, fans were sneaking in all sorts of fireworks, illegal drugs, weapons, and alcohol. There were no check points or pat downs. Most of the ushers and ticket takers were old men usually not too interested in mingling with the averaged teenage long haired nineteen seventies rock and roll fan. They were old school ushers raised during the World War II and Korean War eras of the nineteen forties and fifties. They were used to ushering sporting events that had a completely different clientele. You could see there distaste for the long haired hippie type rock fan of bands like Pink Floyd. And hey, you really couldn’t blame them; many of the fans were out of their minds before they even entered the arena. The arenas had very little security, so many of the ushers had a hard time on the nights the Garden hosted concerts The times have changed dramatically since the concerts of the classic rock era as today’s concerts are lined with State Troopers and in most arenas, a massive security presence.
Putting aside the drama of the fireworks incident and the culture of the nineteen seventies’ concert going experience, the remaining set list of music that Pink Floyd had performed on the night of July 3rd 1977 had consisted of the entire performance of the Animals and Wish you Were Here albums. The two encores “Money,” and “Us and Them,” were from the Dark Side of the Moon album. Nothing from the bands earlier albums such as Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, A Saucerful of Secrets, More, Ummagumma, or Piper at the Gates of Dawn had been performed. Honestly, as a sixteen year old in 1977, the only Pink Floyd music I had known was from the three albums of Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and Animals. The earlier Pink Floyd music was not as popular at that particular point in time as those nineteen seventies albums. The band’s set-list pretty much confirmed the band’s understanding of the popularity of their nineteen seventies material in their catalog.
The performances of the pieces from the Pink Floyd albums, Wish You Were Here and Animals did not deviate too much from the original album arrangements. The intros were extended which created more anticipation of full band performances. Many of the song solo sections were also extended to feature David Gilmour’s original atmospheric guitar solos. Probably the best solo of the night was Gilmour’s extended solo during Pink Floyd’s performance of “Dogs” from the Animals album. After a brief keyboard solo, David Gilmour just tore it up with long sustained lines that ripped right through the crazed crowd. The performance of “Dogs” was one of the highlights of the evening. The album was still fresh and the band seemed to really enjoy performing the music of the entire record. The performance of the Wish You Were Here album was also outstanding, but the Animals entire album performance was one for the ages.
1977-07-01 Pink Floyd MSG New York
After the performance of the entire Wish You Were Here album, Pink Floyd left the stage only to return about ten minutes later to perform the classic Dark Side of the Moon track, “Money”, as their first encore.” In 2015, when bands tour, fans flock the internet for videos and set lists of their favorite bands current concerts. So in essence, when a fan goes to see a show they know pretty much what to expect since they have already reviewed the band’s recent shows. However, in the nineteen seventies we never knew what was coming at a concert, unless you were at the previous night’s show. When Pink Floyd left the stage after performing, “Money”, the house lights went up after about fifteen minutes. The entire Madison Square Garden crowd began to leave. We sat in our seats for about another fifteen minutes before beginning our exit. As we walked down the corridor to exit the arena, we heard slight applause coming from the Garden, I turned around and saw the house lights turned off. This was about thirty minutes after the band had left the stage after their performance of “Money.” We ran back down the hall to see Pink Floyd walking back on the stage. The band then performed the most amazing version of “Us and Them,” that I had ever heard.
Once the band left the stage after the thrilling performance of “Us and Them,” we were told to leave. Many fans were fighting with ushers to stay because of the possibility of another encore. After all, it had seemed like the concert was over before because of the long wait between “Money,” and “Us and Them.” So many of us thought another song was possible. Back then you did not leave concerts early to beat traffic; you stayed to absorb every last second possible of seeing bands that you never saw anywhere else but on the live concert stage. Eventually we left and brought our three dollar slightly defective Pink Floyd tee shirts. They were being sold on the streets of New York City by very shady people carrying large black bags of shirts, while looking ready to run at any given second. We brought our shirts and took the D train back to the Bronx.
We all understood quite well that we had just seen a great rock and roll concert. What we did not realize was that we were part of an era witnessing what would become known as “Classic Rock,” music. We thought that bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, and Led Zeppelin would continue to release albums like they did in the nineteen seventies for more years to come while eventually passing the torch to new bands on that same level. Well, simply put, we were wrong. Seeing Pink Floyd on that warm New York City night during the Summer of 1977 was a rock and roll experience that will never be wiped from the memory. It was an extraordinary night in which the actions of an idiotic individual fan could have caused serious harm to another member of the audience of even members of Pink Floyd. For a moment, I’m sure the band thought about cancelling the rest of the show; but they didn’t. The show went on, and Pink Floyd came back once again on the very next night, the Fourth of July.

Midnight Star - "Midas Touch" (Official Video)
The Midas touch, touch, touch, touch
You say you're going through changes
Every day it seems your life is up and down
And you say that you're lookin' for an answer
Everywhere you look it seems you can't be found
Like searchin', tryin' to find the rainbow
No one's ever found it, yet it's told to be
But if you're lookin' for a lover
Everything you need, you can find right here with me
I've got the Midas touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, oh sugar
I've got the Midas touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
Now you've been trapped by love
Someone takes your heart and then says goodbye
So you say that you'll never love another
Tired of playin' games and that's the reason why
But now whenever we're together
There's a certain feelin', that we both agree
And it's time that you've opened up to love
'Cause if you don't ever try, then baby, you may never see
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, yeah, darlin'
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
Together you and I were meant to be
I'll be right beside whenever you need me
This love we have will never fade away
You can count on me 'cause I' here to stay
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, yeah, darlin'
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
(Won't you do that for me?)
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, oh, sugar
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
Touch, touch, touch, touch
The Midas touch
Touch, touch, touch, touch, touch
Touch, touch, touch, touch, touch
Together you and I were meant to be
I'll be right beside whenever you need me
This love we have will never fade away
You can count on me 'cause I' here to stay
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, it's all in my hands
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
(Won't you do that for me?)
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, yeah, baby
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
(Everything I touch)
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, yeah, darlin'
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul
(Won't you let me touch you, baby?)
I've got the Midas Touch
Everything I touch turns to gold, yeah, darlin'
I've got the Midas Touch
Baby, let me touch your body and your soul

Formed at Kentucky State University in 1976, MIDNIGHT STAR began as a self-contained party band in the P-Funk/ Earth Wind and Fire mode, and quickly earned a strong live reputation throughout the world. A 1978 New York City showcase inspired Solar Records chief Dick Griffey to sign the group, and early 80’s albums like The Beginning, Standing Together, and Victory gave MIDNIGHT STAR a chance to hone their chops. Every thing clicked together with the Certified Double Platinum Plus No Parking on the Dance Floor album that established MIDNIGHT STAR as world-renowned songwriters, producers, and entertainers. The band consisted of trumpeter Reggie Calloway, vocalist Belinda Lipscomb, guitarist/drummer/vocalist Melvin Gentry, bassist Kenneth Gant, multi-instrumentalist Bill Simmons, keyboard player/vocalist Bo Watson and guitarist/keyboardist Jeff Cooper, as a self-contained group. They later added non-KSU student trombonist Vincent Calloway (Reginald's younger brother).
The groups passion and love of the music and their strong desire to keep their fans ultimately satisfied, has shown up in Platinum and Gold as they’ve poured out streams of top 10 and No. 1 hits. It began in 1983 with dance-floor smashes like “Freak-a-Zoid”, “No Parking on the Dance Floor”, “Wet My Whistle” and the lovers ballad of the mid-80’s, “Slow Jam”, that to date no one can get enough of. The Planetary Invasion LP of 1985 took them to No. 1 with “Operator” and the sizzling “Curious”. In 1986 MIDNIGHT STAR struck gold with the chart buster “Midas Touch” and the title cut from the Headlines LP. The year of 1988 rowed them to the top once again with the No. 1 “Don’t Rock the Boat” (which featured rapper Ecstasy of Whodini) and the top 10 “Snake in the Grass” from their self-titled CD. MIDNIGHT STAR broke into the 90’s with the smash “Do It (One More Time)” from their Work it Out CD which also featured the sultry ballad “Red Roses”.
After extensive international touring, some of the members decided to pursue other various projects. “Deep down inside, everyone had the intentions of getting back together again,” says vocalist/guitarist Melvin “McArthur” Gentry. “I’ve been behind the scenes a little bit, doing production projects on Toni Braxton, Shanice Wilson and others.” Vocalist and keyboard player Boaz Watson has worked as McArthur’s production partner. He has also co-written songs with renowned songwriter/producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, including hits on Toni Braxton and After Seven. He has served as musical arranger for two Toni Braxton tours and as musical director for the Babyface tour.
Boaz is also musical director for MTV’s Babyface Unplugged concert and CD featuring Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton, and Babyface’s live performance on the 1998 Grammy Awards. Beautiful lead singer Belinda Lipscomb took her talents to the theater, with lead roles in several musical comedies and gospel musicals. “I’ve been honing in on who I am and where I want to go,” says Belinda. In addition, Belinda sang on several national radio and television commercials including a series of spots for the popular Caribbean resort “Sandals”.
So what can we expect from MIDNIGHT STAR today? Belinda adds “ We will hit the stage with the high energy performance that we are known for, remembering all the things that were so special about the group… letting everybody’s light shine.” Boaz sums it up by saying “ We’ve all been able to go out and have our individual success and we’ve learned different things. We’ve brought these experiences to the group, and now we can enhance the talents that MIDNIGHT STAR already had and make our music more exciting than ever”
So you see, MIDNIGHT STAR has been blessed with gifts and talents that could only come from GOD up above. There is no doubt about it… MIDNIGHT STAR is back and ready to do it now and beyond.

I feel my time has come
I feel the winter's done
I see the brighter sun
Of the summer days
And in your face I feel
Someone who holds the key
To everything I need
To hope is my desire
Oh, baby...
And every word you say
I feel it coming through
With every move you make
My heart believes in you
There'll be no turning back
Can be no turning 'round
I'm gonna give it all
To this love I found
I'm gonna get lucky, mm-hmm
I'm gonna get lucky this time
I feel I'm gonna get lucky
Get lucky
I'm gonna get lucky
Real love is so hard to find
I feel at last this love is mine
I'm gonna get lucky, hey, hey
I'm gonna get lucky this time
Ah-ah-ah, yeah
With every kiss you give
I'm sure this love will live
I feel my heart will be
Safe forevermore
Sometimes I've been so wrong
I've had to pay the price
The tears and loneliness
Of all the sacrifice
I'm gonna get lucky, so lucky
I'm gonna get lucky this time
I, I feel I'm gonna get lucky
Get lucky
I'm gonna get lucky
Real love is so hard to find
I feel at last this love is mine
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Yeah
With every tender touch
I feel the need in you
You are the one for me
My heart believes it's true
Each time I ask myself
Oh, may I be wrong?
I feel it coming through
I feel it coming strong
I'm gonna get lucky
Get lucky
I'm gonna get lucky this time
I, I feel I'm gonna get lucky
Get lucky
I'm gonna get lucky
Real love is so hard to find
I feel at last this love is mine
I'm gonna get lucky, hey, hey
I'm gonna get lucky this time
I feel that my time has come
I can feel the winter's done
I'm gonna get lucky, yeah
I'm gonna get lucky
Real love is so hard to find
I feel at last this love is mine
I'm gonna get lucky
I'm gonna get lucky this time
Time has come tonight
I'm gonna get lucky, yeah, yeah
I'm gonna get lucky
Real love is so hard to find
I feel as though you're gonna be mine
I'm gonna get lucky...

Jermaine Stewart was born on September 7th, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio. His parents Ethel and Eugene Stewart named their son William Jermaine Stewart. Jermaine was one of 5 children, Brother Eugene and sisters Sondra, Leandra & Norma. In 1972 the family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Paul Roberson High School.
Jermaine first came to the public's attention as a dancer on the U.S syndicated TV show "Soul Train" where he met fellow dancers Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels. When the "Soul Train" producer and presenter Don Cornelius created Shalamar Jermaine auditioned as lead singer but eventually Howard Hewitt won that position. Still Jermaine joined his friends as a backing singer and dancer.
Jermaine also performed background vocals for other acts like Millie Jackson, Tavares, Deniece Williams and the Temptations.
Jermaine moved to the U.K. in order to start his own recording career. In 1983 Jermaine performed backing vocals on Culture Club's hugely successful "Colour By Numbers" album. The group and particularity guitarist Mikey Craig helped Jermaine get a record deal of his own with Ten Records, which was a division of Virgin Records in the U.K. and Arista Records in the U.S.
"The Word Is Out" was Jermaine's first album which was released in 1984. The lead single of the same name was original released in 1983 and was co written by Jermaine and Mikey Craig. The single and album failed to chart in the U.K. but both were met with moderate success in the U.S.
In 1986 Jermaine released his biggest hit "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off". An anthem for safe sex, when the Aids scare was at it's peak, this was a million selling record. The song reached number 2 on the U.K. charts and number 5 in the U.S. Pop charts. The record was featured in an episode of U.S cop show "Miami Vice" which gave it further promotion.
It looked like Jermaine had finally made it. Jermaine's second album "Frantic Romantic" followed but sadly the album failed to take off like the single and only reached number 49 in the U.K. and 34 in the U.S. Further singles, "Jody" (a tribute to long time friend Jody Watley) and "Don't Ever Leave" made little impact on the charts. An out take from the album "Wear Out The Grooves" featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Perfect". In 2010 "Frantic Romantic" was remastered and reissued on CD with bonus tracks.
In 1987 Jermaine released his 3rd and most successful album "Say It Again". Jermaine believed this was his best work to date. The album reached number 32 in the U.K. and 98 in the U.S. and spawned 4 singles: "Say it Again", "Get Lucky", "Don't Talk Dirty To Me" and "Is It Really Love". Although only a moderately successful in the U.S. the singles sold well in Europe. "Don't Talk Dirty" was one of the biggest selling records of 1988 in Germany.
Jermaine toured in 1988 as a support act to the family group "The Jets" and then in his own right to support the album.
In 1989 Jermaine released his 4th and final album under his 10 records contract, titled "What Becomes A Legend Most. This album was predominately released and was successful in Europe but not in the U.K. when the two singles "Tren De Amor" and "Every Woman Wants" failed to chart any higher than the mid 90s, the album was not released.
Also in 1989 Jermaine's song "Hot and Cold" was featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Weekend At Bernies".
In 1992 Jermaine teamed up with Jesse Saunders and recorded an album titled "Set Me Free" for "Reprise Records". The title track was released as single but it's failure led to the project being scrapped and the album remains unreleased.
As a gay man Jermaine was diagnosed as HIV positive and ill health affected his career. Having had the luxury of 3 homes around the World in London, Los Angeles and Chicago. Jermaine moved back to Chicago for the remainder of his life.
Jermaine died on March 17th 1997, aged 39 of AIDS related liver cancer and is buried at Homewood Memorial Gardens, Homewood, Illinois. Jermaine's burial site was left without a tombstone or even a grave marker for over 17 years. In 2014, his grave finally received a gravestone, placed there by his mother.
In 1999 "A Tribute to Jermaine Stewart: Attention" was released featuring unreleased songs by Jermaine.
Then later in 2007 Jermaine's Brother Gene, released a Greatest Hits double CD package of Jermaine's best work and including some unreleased songs. A bonus DVD of Jermaine's 1988 concert performance with "The Jets" was also made available.

KAREL FIALKA - Hey Matthew (Long 12'' Version Videoclip)
I was sitting with Matthew,
we were watching TV I said;
Hey Matthew, what do you see?
Do you see the guns? Do you see the bombs?
See those people throwing all of those stones?
Do you see the cars going up in flames?
See their faces, do you know their names?
Hey Matthew, when you're watching TV;
Hey, Hey Matthew, what do you see?
Do you see the tension in a rich man's house?
Do you see the cat? Do you see the mouse?
Do you see the beauty or the big bad beast?
Do you see the famine? Do you see the feast?
In this world of villains do you see the crime?
Is a superhero waiting at the edge of time?
Hey Matthew, when you're watching TV;
I said Hey, Hey Matthew, what do you see?
I see Dallas, Dynasty, Terrahawks,
He-Man, Tom and Jerry, Dukes of Hazzard,
Airwolf, Blue Thunder, Rambo, Road Runner,
Daffy Duck, The A-Team, The A-Team, I see the A-Team.
I was sitting with Matthew,
we were watching TV;
I said Hey Matthew,
what'll you be?
Will you walk like a lion in the danger zone?
Will you pass unnoticed in the great unknown?
When you see the press out on a witch hunt.
When you see a political publicity stunt.
Will you fight for the right? Will you be a man?
Will you step aside? Will you give a damn?
Will you ride that tide with the starry eyed?
Will you give and take?
Will you laugh 'til you ache?
Will you learn to live?
Will you take? Will you give?
As the bridges burn, will you live and learn? Will you be numbered with the brave and true? Well, good luck kid, here's lookin' at you.
In the future, Matthew, so bright and free,
Hey Matthew, what'll you be?
Hey Hey Matthew, what'll you be?
I want to be a soldier, street fighter, be a policeman, A captain of a boat - big boat.
I want to be a medic man, a cowboy,
a train driver, high jump champion,
a fireman, a pilot, I want to be your friend.
It's all a game - I hope.
Hey Matthew,
Hey Hey Matthew.
I hope.
I hope.
I hope.
I hope.

Boy George starred in the February 11th, 1986 episode of The A Team.
The Season 4 episode, “Cowboy George,” opens with Face working on a new get-rich-quick scheme for the team: He’s booking a concert with Cowboy George and the Range Rats at an Arizona watering hole, and pocketing the profits. We would ask why a rough-and-tough squad of gun-toting mercenaries is getting into the concert promotion business, but we’re trying not to think too hard about this.
Besides, it opens the door for a totally ‘80s cameo, because when Face goes to pick up Cowboy George at the airport, it’s actually… Boy George! The singer explains that he and Culture Club are owed 60 percent of what they made at their last gig — a cool $1.2 million. And they get that no matter what:
Face’s friend who set up the concert deal screwed him to get out of paying Culture Club their hefty appearance fee. And now the A-Team is left holding the bag. But wait! Face thinks he can salvage this! He goes to the owner of the local honky-tonk and tries to convince him Boy George and his band of brooding fops would be a great crowd-pleaser. But the grizzled owner has no interest in being associated with, in his words, an…
Which, to be fair, is probably one of the nicest things a guy like that would call Boy George in the ‘80s. (Also, if there isn’t a band called English Glitter Prince playing in a basement in Brooklyn somewhere, there should be.)
George isn’t thrilled with the venue, either; he calls it “a certified toilet,” actually. But Face pleads with him to give it a shot as Hannibal and B.A. arrive. (And awww, Mr. T is so excited to meet Boy George!) Hannibal senses that the bar owner is working a nefarious side business, and wants to snoop around during George’s set. Face still isn’t sure Culture Club can win over the locals, but George is confident, leading to this miraculous exchange:
But then an amazing thing happens: Culture Club’s synth-heavy soft rock starts to win over the rowdy crowd! And who can blame them, with moves like these?
Even more amazingly, Culture Club’s “God Thank You Woman” plays in the background while we watch Hannibal and the A-Team foil an armored car robbery with heavy gunfire and explosions. It’s truly the most bizarre juxtaposition of audio and video we’ve ever witnessed. It should probably be in a museum.
So the A-Team saves the day, right? Well, not quite: The corrupt sheriff throws Hannibal, Face, and B.A. in jail, interrupting Culture Club’s set and forcing Murdock and Boy George to spring them out. The escape plan involves Murdock dressing up as a woman (??) and Boy George kicking down a door (!!). You go, George!
They free their buddies and head for the airport just in time to catch the bad guys before they jet off to freedom. And in typical A-Team fashion, our heroes fire off a bunch of bullets, but never actually manage to hit anyone. But who cares? The bad guys surrender! And we celebrate with one more Culture Club performance, this time of their mega-hit “Karma Chameleon.” The rednecks love it, Mr. T loves it… even Hannibal loves it! What can we say? We love it when a plan comes together.

Italo Disco classic from 1983! Over 7 minutes of arpeggiated synthesizer basslines. Charlie’s “Spacer Woman” is one of the greatest dance 12″s of all time, and it’s sort of—at least in a technical sense—a one-hit wonder. This record came out in 1983, smack in the middle of one of music’s—especially 4/4 dance music’s—most fertile periods, as the fumes of disco were paving the way for electro, hip-hop, and Italo disco, as well as other synth- and drum-machine-led formats. Maurice Cavalieri, who produced and arranged “Spacer Woman,” co-wrote it with Giorgio Stefani, a fellow member in the Italian disco group Firefly. That outfit had released a variety of jams in the early ‘80s as disco started to sundown. Together, they wrote breezy, inviting roller jams like “Love (Is Gonna Be on Your Side),” “Do It Dancin,” and “Love and Friendship.” Their tastes moved from fluffier, more maximalist disco fare to the steely timbres of what you find on the “Spacer Woman” record. Cavalieri was inspired by emerging new wave artists, like Depeche Mode and Heaven 17, who were really embracing synthesizers as the leading sound—and not just a supporting instrument—in creating futuristic soundscapes. Unlike Firefly, Charlie was cold, alien, and sharp. Cavalieri wanted to move away from the lovey-dovey and shoot for something much more melodramatic. Cavalieri enlisted Stefani to help him compose both the tune and the lyrics. Historically, a lot of Italo disco records have suffered from poor songwriting and/or poor English translation. Sometimes, the clunky lyrics make an Italo disco song more endearing to English-speaking audiences, though that’s probably the exception to the rule.
Recorded in Vincenza, Italy, “Spacer Woman” feels like a melancholy take on Kraftwerkian motorik precision, like a robot that is somehow aware of humans and its own limitations. The drum machine and synths give it a punchy, space-shuttle propulsion (even though they might seem quaint by modern standards), and lilting synthlines make the song feel introspective. “Spacer Woman” was released as a 12″ on Cavalieri’s own label, Mr. Disc Organization (also the home to the Firefly releases and a ton of other records in the early ‘80s) in 1983. The following year, German label XYZ—who’s often credited with coining the phrase “Italo disco” in the first place—re-pressed and released “Spacer Woman.” But this would be the only release to come out under the Charlie name.

James Walter Castor (January 23rd, 1940 – January 16th, 2012) was an American funk, R&B, and soul musician. A multi-instrumentalist, he is credited with vocals, saxophone and composition. He is best known for songs such as "It's Just Begun", "Bertha Butt Boogie", and the biggest hit single, million seller "Troglodyte (Cave Man). Castor was born on January 23, 1940, Early in his career he was a member of the famous doo-wop group "The Teenagers". Later he created Jimmy and the Juniors. In late 1966 he released "Hey Leroy, Your Mama's Callin' You". As solo artist and leader of The Jimmy Castor Bunch (TJCB) in the 1970s, Castor released several successful albums and singles. TJCB peaked their commercial success in 1972 upon the release of their album, It's Just Begun, which featured two hit singles: the title track and "Troglodyte (Cave Man)", the latter of which became quite popular in the US, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track stayed on the chart for 14 weeks and on June 30, 1972, received a gold disc award from the RIAA for sales of a million copies. Castor released "It's Just Begun" in 1972. In 1973, he recorded a soprano saxophone instrumental cover of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" written by Gary Brooker, Keith Reid and Matthew Fisher (from Procol Harum), on a tune inspired by J.S.Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 BWV1068 in his "Air on the G string”. Africa Bambaataa said that "It's Just Begun" was very popular at South Bronx block parties in the 1970s. Later popular songs included "Bertha Butt Boogie", "Potential", "King Kong" and "A Groove Will Make You Move" in 1975 and 1976. The Jimmy Castor Bunch included keyboardist/trumpeter Gerry Thomas, bassist Doug Gibson, guitarist Harry Jensen, conga player Lenny Fridle, Jr., and drummer Bobby Manigault. Thomas also recorded with the Fatback Band, leaving TJCB in the 1980s to exclusively record with them. He died from heart failure on January 16, 2012 in Henderson, Nevada, only a week short of his 72nd birthday. Many of the group's tunes have been heavily sampled in films and in hip-hop. In particular, the saxophone hook and groove from the title track of It's Just Begun. For example Ice-T sampled the track for the title track of his 1988 album Power. Also, heavy sampled is the spoken word intro and groove from Troglodyte (Cave Man) (namely, "What we're gonna do right here is go back..." and "Gotta find a woman, gotta find a woman"). Industrial hip hop group Tackhead covered the song "Just Begun" for the digital release of their album For the Love of Money.

Fancy (real name Manfred Alois Segieth) is a German disco singer who was popular in the mid to late 1980s. Fancy started playing guitar at the age of twelve. As he was attending a boarding school where the enjoyment of worldly music was not allowed, he had to secretly listen to the pop records of artists such as Ted Herold and Peter Kraus. At the age of 14 he switched to the humanistic high school in Munich. During his time at high school and afterwards he worked in various bands as a guitarist and bass player, but mainly as a singer. He performed with these bands in numerous dance halls. However, his parents did not share Fancy's enthusiasm for music. His father only changed his mind after he recovered from a major operation.
Segieth's career commenced in 1984 as a European-based pop singer and songwriter. His role as a musician rapidly expanded as a producer, which lead to his music receiving worldwide airplay. The international disco hits "Slice Me Nice" and "Chinese Eyes" reached second place on the US Billboard Dance Charts and the Top 10 USA Billboard for 1985 with "Chinese Eyes" and "Come Inside". Fancy had a number 1 in Spain with "Bolero". A further nine of his singles charted in both the top 10 and top 20 portions of the Media Control Singles Charts, this mainly covered the German charts during the mid to late 80s. "Flames of Love" has received worldwide exposure since 1988; as it was his highest charting hit.

Gary's Gang was an American r&b/pop rock group best known for their U.S. hit "Keep on Dancin", reaching #41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. The song also climbed to #8 in the UK Singles Chart, #14 on the Hot Soul Singles Chart in 1978 and also made #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, as did two of the group's other songs: "Do It at the Disco" and "Let's Lovedance Tonight". The latter was later used as the sampling background track to Soulsearcher's 1999 #20 Club Play hit, "Can't Get Enough". The group, based in Queens, New York, consisted of Gary Turnier, Eric Matthew aka Joseph Tucci, Al Lauricella, Rino Minetti, Bill Catalano, Bob Forman and Jay Leon. In the 1980s Gary's Gang enjoyed further U.S. and European success with the 1982 single "Knock Me Out" (#45 UK) and the 1983 hit "Makin' Music", which reached #8 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. Brian Chin of Billboard described "Knock Me Out" to be "midtempoed and very pop, it shares much of the soft-edged production styling and doowoppish vocals of the group's earlier work."

Bumblebee Unlimited was a studio-based disco unit helmed by Patrick Adams and Gregory Carmichael. Much like the other groups/artists featuring the handiwork of Adams and/or Carmichael (Cloud One, Universal Robot Band, Inner Life, etc). Bumblebee Unlimited acted as a bridge between disco and house, stylistically (and sometimes chronologically) forming a wedge between those two forms and thus a precursor to house. Aside from the undeniable ties to a pair of behind-the-scenes disco legends, Bumblebee Unlimited was probably most known on the dancefloor for their 1976 Red Greg (Carmichael's label) single "Love Bug," an ecstatic mid-tempoed number with vocals sped to a high pitch and swells of strings that mimicked "Flight of the Bumblebee." The vocal trick was used to more extreme effect for 1978's "Lady Bug" single, which took the high-pitched vocals to an almost Chipmunk -like level, though the vocals sounded as if they were coming from bees, not chipmunks (giveaway line: "May I have a nectar and tonic?"). RCA issued BU's only LP, Sting Like a Bee, in 1979, which included both "Lady Bug" and "Love Bug." Amongst the contributors to the album were longtime Adams/Carmichael associates Leroy Burgess (vocals), Norbert Sloley (bass), and Richard Taninbaum (drums). (Unidisc reissued the album on CD several years later.) BU also recorded for Salsoul later on, including the 1981 single "The Bumblebee Rap." Active 1970s - 1980s Genre R&B Styles Disco..

Seawind was an American jazz fusion band from Hawaii, consisting of its lead singer Pauline Wilson, guitarist Bud Nuañez, bassist Ken Wild, drummer Bob Wilson, keyboardist and saxophonist Larry Williams, saxophone and flute player Kim Hutchcroft, and trumpeter Jerry Hey. Seawind recorded two albums for CTI Records, one for Horizon Records and one for A&M Records. A notable part of the band's sound was the "Seawind Horns" (trumpeter Jerry Hey, sax and flute player Kim Hutchcroft, and sax, flute and keyboard player Larry Williams), who went on to provide backing instrumentals and arrangements for performers such as Earth, Wind & Fire, George Benson, Michael Jackson (Thriller, Off the Wall and Bad), Quincy Jones and Mika. Hey left Seawind as a touring member in 1979 but continued as a recording member of the band through 1980. Trumpeter Larry Hall, an original member of the band when they were called "OX", rejoined the group in 2005. Hey and Hall are longtime friends and both are top-call recording session musicians.
Seawind in Waikiki.
When the act signed with A&M, their self-titled album yielded a single called "What Cha Doin'", which became a modest hit on Billboard's Disco/Dance Chart in November 1980, peaking at number 28. It would be the group's only single release. In 1981, Bob & Pauline Wilson released a contemporary Christian music album, Somebody Loves You, which, although technically not a Seawind album, features the same trademark sound with the same musicians and vocalists. Seawind broke up in 1982, but reunited in 2005 for a Los Angeles concert performance and then began work on a new CD, which took them over three years to complete. Pauline Wilson is the first vocalist from Hawaii to win a Grammy award (singing a duet with George Benson on the album "In Harmony - A Sesame Street Record which won a Grammy Award for Best Album for Children in 1979). In 1995, a Seawind compilation CD Remember was released on Noteworthy Records. Remember includes five tracks recorded during sessions for their never-completed fifth album. Seawind's 2009 CD Reunion was released on Village Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

Good evening. This is the intergalactic operator. Can I help you?
Yes. I'm trying to reach flight commander P.R. Johnson, on Mars, flight 2-4-7
Very well, hold on please you're through!
Thank you operator!
Hi darlin'! How are you doing?
Hey baby, where're your sleeping?
Oh I'm sorry, but I've been really missing you!
Hi darlin'! How's the weather?
Say baby, is that cold better now?
Oh I'm sorry, is there someone there with you
Ooooh... since you went away, there's nothing goin' right!
I just can't sleep alone at night... I'm not ashamed to say
I badly need a friend... or it's the end.
Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon.
Here in the night I just hope and pray that soon.
Oh baby, you'll hurry home to me.
Hi darlin', the kids say they love you.
Hey baby, is everything fine with you?
Please forgive me, but I'm trying not to cry...
Ooooh... I've had a million different lovers on the phone.
But I just stayed right here at home.
I don't think that I can take it anymore this crazy war.
Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon.
Here in the night I just hope and pray that soon.
Oh darling, you'll hurry home to me.
I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation, but we are
Experiencing violent storm conditions in the asteroid belt at this
Time. We may lose this valuable deep space communication link.
Please, be as brief as possible.
Thank you

Or it's... or it's...
Hello?
Hello operator?
Yes, we've lost the connection!
Could you try again please?
I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we've lost contact with Mars 2-4-7 at this time
Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon.
Here in the night I just hope and pray that soon.
Oh baby, you'll hurry home to me.
Now, when I look at the cloud's across the moon.

Apart from his own RAH Band project, he was a producer in the 1980s for Toyah Willcox, Five Star, and Shakin' Stevens. He was and co-producer and conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra on Cliff Richard's 1983 live album 'Dressed for the Occasion (which included the UK hit single "True Love Ways"). In recent years, he has written music for television shows and advertising spots. His song "Pearly" was recorded by The Pearls.

Hewson founded The RAH Band – of which he was the sole member and which took its name from his initials – in 1977 – to release an instrumental called "The Crunch". The piece climbed to number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. The song also peaked at number 16 in Australia. Hewson played all the musical instruments himself. The arrangement involved the use of no synthesisers, only conventional guitar and keyboards with pedal effects. He was later featured on Top of the Pops. A number of jazz funk releases followed. The second big hit single for the RAH Band was in 1985 when the soul ballad, "Clouds Across the Moon", also reached number 6 in the UK chart. Vocals were provided by his wife Liz, also known as "Dizzy Lizzy". In July 2007, Hewson released a remixed "Clouds Across the Moon '07", which featured vocalist Emma Charles. The RAH band's releases were issued under a variety of record labels, including Good Earth Records, DJM, KR Records, TMT Records and RCA.

Stockton-on-Tees, also simply referred to as Stockton, is a large market town and principal settlement of the Borough of Stockton-onTees in County Durham, England. The town has a population of 85,000, with a population of around 196,000 in the wider area, the Borough of Stockton-onTees, according to a 2017 estimates by ONS UK. Stockton is an Anglo-Saxon name with the typical Anglo-Saxon place name ending 'ton' meaning farm, or homestead. Stockton is known to be the home of the fossilised remains of the most northerly hippopotamus ever discovered on Earth. In 1958, an archeological dig four miles north-west of the town discovered a molar tooth from a hippo dating back 125,000 years ago. However, no-one knows where exactly the tooth was discovered, who discovered it, or why the dig took place. The tooth was sent to the borough's librarian and curator, G. F. Leighton, who then sent to the Natural History Museum, London. Since then the tooth has been missing, and people are trying to rediscover it.

In 1822, Stockton witnessed an event which changed the face of the world forever and heralded the dawn of a new era in trade, industry and travel. The first rail of George Stephenson's Stockton and Darlington Railway was laid near St. John's crossing on Bridge Road. Hauled by Locomotion No 1, the great engineer himself manned the engine on its first journey on 27 September 1825. Fellow engineer and friend, Timothy Hackworth acted as guard. This was the world's first passenger railway, connecting Stockton with Shildon. The opening of the railway greatly boosted Stockton, making it easier to bring coal to the factories; however the port declined as business had moved down river to Middlesbrough.

Stockton witnessed another discovery in 1827. Local chemist John Walker invented the friction match in his shop at 59 High Street. The first sale of the matches was recorded in his sales-book on 7 April 1827, to a Mr. Hixon, a solicitor in the town. Since he did not obtain a patent, Walker received neither fame nor wealth for his invention, but he was able to retire some years before his death. He died in 1859 at the age of 78 and is buried in the parish churchyard in Norton village. The first bell for Big Ben was cast by John Warner and Sons in Norton on 6 August 1856, but became damaged beyond repair while being tested on site and had to be replaced by a foundry more local to Westminster. A hospital opened in Stockton in 1862 and a public library opened in 1877.

Steam trams began running in the streets in 1881 and were replaced by electric trams in 1897. Buses replaced the trams in 1931. In the 1930s slums were cleared and the first council houses were built. At this time, Stockton was still dominated by the engineering industry and there was also a chemicals industry in the town. In the late 20th century manufacturing industry severely declined, although the service industries grew, and today are the town's main employers. The Ragworth district near the town centre was the scene of rioting in July 1992, when local youths threw stones at buildings, set cars alight and threw missiles at police and fire crews. The area later saw a £12million regeneration which involved mass demolition or refurbishment of the existing properties, as well as new housing and community facilities being built.
An early image of a steam tram in Stockton, I believe the depot was in Boat House Lane. The route which is named on the side of tram is Norton to Stockton Bridge would that be Victoria Bridge? The Steam Trams opened in 1881 and ceased in 1897, it seems a short time for the trams to be in operation. Image courtesy of Derek Buttle

Since the construction of the Tees Barrage in 1995, the level of the River Tees through the town is permanently held at high tide, creating a backdrop for riverside events and making it useful for a number of water sport activities such as rowing, canoeing, jet skiing and dragon boat racing. Stockton town centre is elevated high above the river and is separated from the riverside by the A1305 Riverside Road, a dual carriageway which runs parallel to the river from Northshore to Chandlers Wharf. A full-size replica of local-born Captain James Cook's ship HM Bark Endeavour was once moored at the quayside but was sold and moved after refurbishment to a mooring in Whitby North Yorkshire. The Teesside Princess, a two-deck river boat, docks alongside and offers river cruises to Yarm, via Preston Park all year round. The Tees Walkway on the north bank of the river can be accessed from the town centre by the Teesquay Millennium Footbridge or the Riverside Footbridge and provides a walk along the embankment, as well as a cycle path which forms part of the National Cycle Network. The 11-metre Aeolian Motion wind sculpture stands above the grassy slope which overlooks the riverside and becomes an amphitheatre during large events. From Castlegate Quay, the tree-lined path along the waterfront toward the Princess of Wales Bridge opens into green space for events and a car parking area.

Previously the sweeping street corner with a few incidental benches tacked on, adjacent to a large expanse of grass, provided seating which felt exposed and out of scale. The design solution was a layout that took advantage of the existing grass amphitheater and terracing to provide informal seating, enclosed within a more formal seating area. The paving curves round following the site contours and the paving jut out to enclose the grass apron, like seating round a stage. Indeed the area acts both as an arena for street theatre during Stocktons International Riverside Festival and as a vantage point for Festival events held on the riverside. The use of York Stone enhances the quality of the scheme, and the Tegula sett paving allows a fluidity of design and provides a contrast in size and texture to the paving slabs. The choice of these elements and the use of mosaic tiles at the base of the wind sculpture, reflects recent paving schemes in the towns public spaces. The axis of the site visually links the town centre with the river, the wind sculpture, up lit at night, acting as a beacon. The wind sculpture and street furniture was designed and made by Phil Johnson of Ratho forge. The design imparts a unique identity to the seating area, which reflects the character of Stockton, and creates a sense of place. The solid construction and materials used in the street furniture recall steam locomotives and Stocktons early role in the development of the railway. The sharp angular, steel form of the wind sculpture, Eolian Motion, connects the future with the past; the new businesses in the technology park across the river with the heavy, engineering industries of the past. The articulated arms of the sculpture move, directed by the force of the wind. The wind sculpture construction was undertaken between March and April 2001. The Princess of Wales Bridge is a dual carriageway road bridge carrying the Teesdale Boulevard across the River Tees in Stockton-on-Tees in the Northeast of England. The bridge links on the south bank of the river, Teesdale Business Park in Thornaby-on-Tees to the north bank at the north end of Riverside Road at a gyratory system in Stockton-on-Tees, The bridge is sometimes referred to as the Diana Bridge or the Princess Diana Bridge, named after the late Diana, Princess of Wales. The bridge was commissioned by the Teesside Development Corporation and built at a cost of £3 million by Tarmac Group. The bridge was inaugurated on 23rd September 1992 by Diana, Princess of Wales. On rare occasions the bridge is closed for fireworks events. After the death of Diana, Princess of Wales the bridge was fitted with two memorial plaques.

The Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF), one of Europe's largest open air festivals, takes over the town once a year since 1988. Spread over a long weekend, for either four or five-days, it attracts over 250,000 visitors and features a variety of acts from a circus, comedy, music, dance and street theatre. The annual riverside firework display happens on the first Sunday closest to 5th November and is attended by up to 100,000 spectators from the wider region. The year's events always conclude with the Stockton Sparkles Christmas Festival and the associated markets. The Georgian Theatre at Green Dragon Yard is also Grade II listed and is the oldest Georgian theatre in the country. Originally opened in 1766, it fell into disrepair during the 19th century but later became used as a sweet factory and then a community building. Between 2007 and 2008 the building was given a full makeover along with its neighbour Green Dragon Studios and now serves as an intimate venue for live entertainment, with a capacity of 200. The Globe Theatre is at the north western end of the High Street and is currently closed whilst undergoing restoration. A Grade II listed theatre built in 1936 on the same site as two previous theatres, it has hosted many famous acts such as Buddy Holly, the Platters, Guy Mitchell, the Rolling Stones, the Animals, Cilla Black, Carl Perkins, Cliff Richard, the Shadows and Chuck berry. The Beatles famously played the Globe on Friday 22nd November 1963, the day U. S. President John F.Kennedy was assassinated.

Stockton Cricket Club was established in 1816, and has been located at the Grangefield Cricket Ground, Grangefield since 1891. The club currently fields three senior teams at weekends in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Divisions of the Dukes North East Premier League. Stockton Rugby Club is the local Rugby Union side, established in 1873. Home games are now played at the Grangefield Ground following a historic community partnership agreement with Stockton Cricket club and Grangefield Academy in 2015. Stockton town centre is the main centre within the borough. High Street which is the widest in the UK, heads north through the town centre, from the junction of Bridge Road and Yarm Lane, culminating at Maxwells Corner, where Norton Road and Bishopton Lane begin. On 12th June 2016, Stockton Council launched The Stockton Flyer, a large industrial looking flying train which was constructed and then lowered inside a plinth on the Stockton High Street. It was officially unveiled to mark the Queen's official 90th birthday on 12th June 2016. The Stockton Flyer appears every day in the town centre at 1pm, usually with an audience of people videoing the rising and lowering of the structure. The train's whistles and horns are audible over a mile and a half away.
