The Similou - All This Love
The Similou - All This Love
City roof top, summer night
In your tank top rainbow styling
Last night girl, like a dream
Never felt so good, sleepy smiling
All this love saved up for nothing
I've never felt so blue
And all this love, rainbow styling
All this love saved up for nothing
And this will do me no good
And all this love, rainbow styling
Everyday that summer, by your side
And it all just seemed everlasting
But then you told me you would move away
And you looked so cute there, there u were crying
All this love saved up for nothing
I've never felt so blue
And all this love, rainbow styling
All this love saved up for nothing
And this will do me no good
And all this love, rainbow styling

Ian van Dahl - will i (Dee Dee Extended Mix)
Ian Van Dahl burst into the European consciousness in 2001 when debut single, ‘Castles In The Sky’ became the soundtrack to the summer. With its beautiful trancey chords and perfect sunny lyrics, it encapsulated feel good pop-dance crossover music, and sparked a burning debate – why would such a pretty girl be called Ian?
Ian Van Dahl
“Ian Van Dahl was just a project name,” laughs Annemie. “The record company wanted something that sounded a bit Dutch or Flemish – it wasn’t until the track got really big that we realised Ian was a male’s name – everyone in the UK was expecting a man and looked really surprised when I turned up for gigs!” However, the idea of a small town teenager scoring a recording contract seemed like a pipe dream, and the naturally creative Annemie, who was already showing a flair for art and fashion design, set her heart on attending the highly prestigious fashion school in Antwerp. The prohibitive fees led her to take up a host of jobs – everything from working in a factory, a carwash, and a shop selling outrageously expensive clothes, to working with a doctor. Then a friend, horrified at how hard Annemie was striving, dragged her off to Ibiza to chill out. The visit extended to two summers, converting Annemie from an alt-rock chick to a club disciple. “I couldn’t believe how many different styles there were within the dance scene, and I was getting bored with listening to mainly rock music. I was clubbing everywhere, I loved Space, Pacha, Privilege, Amnesia, and I made so many friends over there”.
Born in a small village, Herk-De-Stad in Belgium in 1978, Annemie had always loved singing, but got her first real taste of the music scene when she joined a dance band aged 17. “We played on a big stage, which was my first real singing experience. It was in a theatre, so the audience was sitting down and it was very quiet. There was just a piano, and I had to sing live; I was so nervous. I had written the song myself, and when I performed I got a really positive reaction; it made me think ‘wow’ – I really enjoy this!” On her return, Annemie recorded a demo “for fun really, I didn’t expect anything to come from it”. But it found its way into the hands of Stefan Wuyts, a label A&R, who was looking for a vocalist for the song ‘Castles In The Sky’ by new Belgian act, Ian Van Dahl. Immediately drawn to the mellow style of her voice, he called her into the studio to try out for the role.
Herk-De-Stad Limburg in Belgium
After one audition, Stefan and the rest of the group knew they had found their singer. Everyone who’s kept an eye on the top of the charts in the past few years will know the rest – ‘Castles In The Sky’ blew up on international dancefloors and went on to storm single charts around the world. They’d pulled off a global hit with their debut release and were suddenly being talked about by everyone from Smash Hits to Mixmag. They then set straight to work on a debut album, ‘Ace’, and having discovered Annemie’s ability to write strong lyrics, went on to include eight of her songs on the release. Anyone who thought the act was a one hit wonder were proved spectacularly wrong when the album went Gold in the UK alone after just three weeks, and spawned two more Top 10 hits, ‘Will I’ and ‘Reason’, and Top 15 single ‘Try’ – not bad going for the young Belgian singer’s first professional venture. “We were all on the same level, so it was really great to work together on that first album. We all had the same background in terms of musical tastes, and the guys all have a great sense of humour!”
The outfit has since gelled and evolved, making work on the second album a more exciting and organic experience for all involved. “For me writing music is therapeutic”, says Annemie. “I started writing because I was looking for a way to deal with my emotions. When I was feeling a certain thing I’d try to write about it, so my lyrics often reflect things that have happened to me, or to my friends. Almost every song that I’ve written for Ian Van Dahl has a story behind it, and it gives me so much pleasure when people come up and tell me that they relate to our songs. I don’t think people always appreciate that happens in dance music, because sometimes as a genre it’s considered to be shallow and superficial. I want to have emotional depth in my songs – that’s the only way I know how to write”. The new album is called ‘Lost And Found’, a title that Annemie thought up in an airport whilst standing at the desk trying to locate yet another misplaced collection of CDs and books.
This down to earth, spiritual nature that drives Annemie has proved her brand of cathartic,
emotional lyrics combined with layers of peak-time melodies is the perfect recipe to set alight
charts and dancefloors alike. One such example is the forthcoming single ‘Believe’, whilst the follow up, ‘Where Are You Now’, she describes as having “a kind of Pulp Fiction feel to it. We’ve already made an unplugged version to play live and it’s so cool, I’m really proud of it: I don’t think people expect that from a dance band!”
Other feel-good tunes on the 16-track album include ‘State Of Mind’, and the optimistic, upbeat ‘Do You Feel The Same’, which is pure 3am Ibiza but wouldn’t be out of place at peak time on any dancefloor. ‘Waiting 4 You’ is a beautiful but melancholy ballad, reminiscent of Madonna’s William Orbit collaborations, that should come with a health warning for anyone going through a break up. The next single, ‘Inspiration’, is out late summer and showcases Annemie’s vocal maturity against tougher production and typically irrepressible chords, whilst ‘Time 2 Go’ neatly entwines her strong harmonies with driving synth riffs, and is followed by chunky electro gem ‘Rollercoaster’. ‘Without You’ is destined for the boxes of euphoric trance purveyors worldwide – expect to hear it down the front at the summer festivals with hands in the air and a smile on your face. Annemie credits the range of producers as giving the project a fresh direction, thanks to the inspiration of having different people all with their own individual ways of making music. “We’ve got a lot of new ideas and sounds going, though the overall style is a typical Ian Van Dahl sound. We’ve all matured – Peter Luts and David Vervoort especially wanted to move on and had a lot of the same ideas that I had – it was just so easy and it came really naturally.”
The band’s huge success has seen Annemie perform regularly all over the world to crowds of 60,000, including festivals in Russia, Dubai, Scandinavia and the States, and in the clubs in Ibiza where she herself was partying only a short while ago. They’ve also picked up numerous awards including Best Dance And Trance Act at Dancestar, and Annemie’s favourite, the Top Of The Pops Award for Best Dance – “I’ve been watching that show since I was very young – all my idols have been on there, so I was so blown away when I realised they were calling my name!” As for her increasingly busy future, Annemie is happy to revel in Ian Van Dahl’s continued success with their hands in the air brand of chart sensitive pop, and it’s still her main love.

The Black Eyed Peas is a hip-hop act from America, based in Los Angeles. The line-up of the band is Fergie, Will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo.
Formation: The Black Eyed Peas signed to Interscope Records and released their debut album in 1998. The album was entitled Behind the Front and received critical acclaim, as did their live backing band, The Bucky Jonson. The single 'Joints and Jams' was selected for the soundtrack of Bulworth, which starred Warren Beatty and Halle Berry. The album included appearances from De La Soul, Macy Gray and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5. Two years later, they released their second studio album, Bridging the Gap, which also featured Macy Gray, on 'Request Line'.
Career: In 2003, The Black Eyed Peas released their third studio album, Elephunk. It was the first of their albums to feature the vocals of Stacy 'Fergie' Ferguson, who replaced Kim Hill. The original choice of singer had been Nicole Scherzinger, who went on to become a singer of Pussycat Dolls. Elephunk contained the single 'Where Is the Love?' which featured Justin Timberlake and was the band's first major hit. Another hit single from the album was the track 'Shut Up', as was 'Hey Mama'. The Black Eyed Peas re-recorded 'Shut Up' and 'Let's Get It Started' in 'Simlish': the language used in The Sims computer game. The Black Eyed Peas then released Monkey Business in 2005, much of which was written during their tour with N*E*R*D. the lead single for the album was 'Don't Phunk With My Heart'. Monkey Business features Jack Johnson on guitar. The biggest hit from the album was 'My Humps', which was critically panned (largely for its lyrical content) as much as it was commercially celebrated. They toured the album supporting Gwen Stefani. The Black Eyed Peas also performed at the London leg of the Live 8 concerts along with Razorlight, Eddie Izzard, Kasabian and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In 2005, The Black Eyed Peas' cover of John Lennon's 'Power to the People' was released by Amnesty International. They have also performed the song live with Mary J Blige and John Legend. A remix album entitled Renegotiations: The Remixes was released to iTunes. Among the various remixers were DJ Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock and Erick Sermon. June 2009 saw the Black Eyed Peas release 'The E.N.D.' (the Energy Never Dies). The track 'Boom Boom Pow' was a number one hit for twelve weeks in the US and also reached number one in Australia, Canada and the UK. The track 'I Gotta Feeling' was produced by David Guetta and will.i.am has stated that the sound of the album was inspired by The Presets. The third single from 'The E.N.D.' was 'Meet Me Halfway'. The following year, The Black Eyed Pees released a remix of the album entitled 'The E.N.D. Summer 2010 Canadian Invasion Tour: Remix Collection'. This was later followed by their sixth studio album, 'The Beginning', on 30th November 2010. After touring in support of the album, The Black Eyed Pees went on "indefinite hiatus" on 23rd November 2011. will.i.am later stated that The Black Eyed Pees were looking to get back together in 2015 for their 20th anniversary.

Lucky Lobster Saved From Being Dinner
Lucky Lobster Saved From Being Dinner
Larry the 15 pound Lobster
This is the dramatic tail -- er, tale! -- of Larry the Lobster, a giant 15-pound crustacean who narrowly escaped becoming dinner at a Florida restaurant and who is now headed to Maine, where his "rescuers" hope he will get to "live a better life." The lucky lobster first rose to fame in the town of Sunrise, Florida, after a local seafood restaurant owner bought Larry from a vendor, was "astounded by his big size" and thus went to local news outlets to share his "rare find." "This lobster came in at a whopping 14.98 pounds," Joe Melluso, owner of Tin Fish, told ABC News. "Jumbo lobsters we get are usually between three and five pounds, SO this was over three times the size of a regular jump lobster." Melluso told local news he believed the lobster was 110 years old, given its size. However, a lobster scientist and researcher from Maine said, though the lobster is probably "quite old," 110 years "might be a bit of an exaggeration."
Joe Melluso, owner of Tin Fish
"There's no confirmed way to tell a lobster's age, though you can make a guesstimate based on their size and current growth models," said Dr. Robert Bayer, executive director of the Lobster Institute in Maine. Bayer told ABC News Larry was more likely between 60 and 80 years old. Nonetheless, news of the giant lobster caught the attention of several diners in the area, Melluso said, adding that one gentleman bought and reserved it for a family dinner on Tuesday evening at the Tin Fish restaurant. But just before Larry could be cooked, several animal activists called Melluso, asking him if they could save the lobster and just reimburse the gentleman who originally bought it. "They really opened up my eyes and it got me a little emotional," Melluso said. "We went ahead and donated the lobster to them." And so rather than being put into a pot, the lobster was put into a special container with salt water to be shipped to Maine, according to Brooke Estren, an attorney based in Boca Raton who coordinated the rescue and named the lobster Larry.
"One of my friends, who works for an animal rescue based in Costa Rica, was able to contact the director of the Maine State Aquarium, and we're sending Larry off there now," Estren told ABC News on Wednesday. Larry is expected to arrive at the aquarium sometime today, according to Jeff Nichols, communications director for the Maine Department of Marine Resources, which operates the Maine State Aquarium. "If it does arrive here, and it's in good health, aquarium staff will quarantine it," Nichols told ABC News. Nichols explained that it was "impossible to tell" what would happen to Larry after the quarantine. However, Estren told ABC News she hoped that Larry would get to "live a better life" whether the aquarium decides to keep him or set him back free in the ocean.

Locked up, can't get you off my mind, off my mind
Lord knows I tried a million times, million times, oh whoa
Why can't you, why can't you just let me go?
Strung out on a feeling, my hands are tied
Your face on my ceiling, I fantasize
Oh, I can't control it, I can't control it
I try to replace it with city lights
I'll never escape it, I need the high
Oh, I can't control it, I can't control it
You keep making it harder to stay
But I still can't run away
I gotta know why can't you
Why can't you just let me go?

Biography
-
Far East Movement is an American hip hop group, formed of high school companions Kev Nish, Progress, J-Splif, and late arrival DJ Virman, formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.
Members Kevin Nishimura (Kev Nish), James Roh (Prohgress) and Jae Choung (J-Splif), became strong compadres during high school through a shared passion for music. The trio began playing together and later promoting their music online and performing at a number of clubs and events in the Los Angeles area under the moniker Emcees Anonymous. The name soon changed to the Far East Movement and by 2005 the group released their debut mixtape “Audio-Bio”. Far East Movement’s debut full-length arrived in early 2006, featuring the single “Round Round”, which became popular through its use on the soundtrack to “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift”.
Thanks to this exposure the group were able to pursue music full time and led to their sophomore album “Animal” in 2008, which marked the arrival of DJ Virman to the group. The album spawned the singles “You’ve Got a Friend”, “Lowridin”, and “Girls On The Dance Floor” and featured collaborations with notable artists including Baby Bash, Bruno Mars and Wiz Khalifa. With the accessible and upbeat combination pop and hip hop influences, the group’s music found its way on to a number of TV and film soundtracks including “Get Him to the Greek”, “So You Thing You Can Dance” and "Gossip Girl".
In 2009 Far East Movement appeared at L.A.’s Powerhouse 106 concert alongside esteemed hip hop artists Jay-Z, Kid Cudi and Sean Paul among many others. A year later the group signed with major label Cherrytree Records, an offshoot of Interscope, who organised supporting slots for Robyn and Kelis, and released their third full-length album “Free Wired in 2010. The album features appearances from Bruno Mars, Lil Jon and Snoop Dog and reached No. 24 on the Billboard 200. Following supporting slots on tours for Rihanna and Lil Wayne and a headlining tour of their own, Far East Movement released their fourth studio album “Dirty Bass” in 2012. The album was led by the singles “Jello” and “Live My Life”, the latter of which features notable vocals from Justin Bieber.
Live reviews
-
Far East Movement put on a show! Their intro. consists of a countdown and when it gets down to one, they use Daft Punk’s “One More Time” as each member of the group comes out wearing a headpieces, like an astronaut’s helmet or a large teddy bear. As each headpiece comes off to reveal the person underneath, they all start to really hype up the crowd. The music then immediately (and seamlessly) transitions into one of their songs.
This was my experience when I saw Far East Movement for the first time at my University’s annual Heat music festival. From the moment the music started playing, they maintained the high energy throughout the entire 8 song set. It was almost like a challenge to the crowd, who got riled up, giving off as much energy as they were given. J Splif was the first to address the audience after their first few songs, the first of a good amount of banter between the members. At this point I didn’t really know many of their songs, but I was the odd one out, because most of the crowd knew all the words to the songs and sang along.
I really don’t think I’ve been to a more energetic show, and this was before “Rocketeer” blew up on the airways. Now that I do know more of their music, I definitely want to see them again!
