Morgan was the editor of the Daily Mirror during the period in which the paper was implicated in the phone hacking scandal. In 2011, Morgan denied having ever hacked a phone and stated that he had not, "to my knowledge published any story obtained from the hacking of a phone". The following year, he was criticised in the findings of the Leveson Inquiry by chair Brian Leveson, who stated that comments made in Morgan's testimony about phone hacking were "utterly unpersuasive" and "that he was aware that it was taking place in the press as a whole and that he was sufficiently unembarrassed by what was criminal behaviour that he was prepared to joke about it".

Morgan's outspoken views and controversial comments on Good Morning Britain led Ofcom to adjudicate on multiple occasions. On 9th March 2021, Morgan left the programme with immediate effect, following his criticism of the Oprah with Megan and Harry interview. Ofcom received over 57,000 complaints from viewers, including a complaint from Meghan Duchess of Sussex, herself; Morgan was subsequently cleared of wrongdoing by Ofcom.

Piers Morgan was born in Surrey, the son of Vincent Eamonn O'Meara, an Irish dentist from County Offaly, and Gabrielle Georgina Sybille (née Oliver), an English woman who raised Morgan Catholic. He has a brother, Jeremy, who is older than him by two years. A few months after his birth, the family moved to Newick, East Sussex. His father died when Morgan was 11 months old; his mother later married Glynne Pughe-Morgan, a Welsh pub landlord who later worked in the meat distribution business, and he took his stepfather's surname. He was educated at the independent Cumnor House prep school between the ages of seven and 13, then Chailey School, a comprehensive secondary school in Chailey, followed by Priory School, Lewes, for Sixth form. After nine month's at Lloyd's of London, Morgan studied journalism at Harlow College, joining the Surrey and South London Newspaper Group in 1985.

Church of St Martha-on-the-Hill - St Martha's Hill is a landmark in St Martha in Surry, England between the town of Guildford and village of Chilworth. Its church is the main amenity of the small parish extending to the south into the streets of Chilworth, with some medieval stone incorporations from a 12th-century predecessor (rebuilt 1848-1850 by Henry Woodyer) and is a wedding venue mainly to outside the sparsely populated parish. The site contains several Megalithic and Neolithic artefacts, dating from as far back as 3500 BCE. Below the church there are five circular earthworks, believed to date back to the Bronze Age. They were excavated in 1953 but one has since been obliterated by the construction of a reservoir. There is a traditional belief that the original name of this hill was Saints and Martyrs Hill, the martyr being St Thomas of Canterbury. It is the only church in Surrey to be on the Pilgrim's Way and featured briefly in the 1944 film A Canterbury Tale. The graveyard of the church includes a memorial to actress and singer Yvonne Arnaud, whose ashes were scattered there. There is also the grave of Bernard Freyburg VC, which is in front of the south door of the church. Freyberg won his medal in 1916 as a Lieutenant-Colonel in The Royal West Surry Regiment. He was a New Zealander who also won the DSO with three bars, and rose to the rank of Lieutenant-General. In 2007 a memorial service was held for him at the church, attended by the New Zealand High Commissioner. The eastern end of St Martha's Hill is notified as part of Colyers Hanger Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This area was included in the SSSI for its heathland vegetation communities, including several characteristic acidic grassland plants. Other parts of the hill also have relict heathland vegetation.

Morgan began to work as a freelance at The Sun in 1988, at this point dropping his double-barrelled name. He told Hunter Davies (British author journalist and broadcaster) in December 1994 that he was personally recruited by Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie to work on the newspaper's show business column "Bizarre", his first high-profile post. Although he was not a fan of pop music, he was considered skilled at self-publicity and became the column's main writer. "I became the Friend of the Stars, a rampant egomaniac, pictured all the time with famous people – Madonna, Stallone, Bowie, Paul McCartney, hundreds of them. It was shameless, as they didn't know me from Adam", he told Davies.
Piers slammed Madonna's "cringe" dominatrix-style outfit at last year's VMAs 2021 and last month Feb 21 2022 claimed she's "so mean with money her purse has to be opened with chainsaws". Bizarrely, the tensions started over a bread roll throwing incident and has since spiralled out of control due to a number of other clashes over the years - leading Piers to claim Madonna is "an irritant in my life for 20 years". Their spat started in the 90s, but it really escalated in 2001 when the pair both attended celebrity chef Marco Pierre White's 40th birthday party. According to Piers, "obnoxious" Madonna, who was there with then-husband Guy Ritchie, took offense to late comic Bernard Manning's routine, so he launched a bread roll at her.
Madonna
"Madonna is pretty awful. She never forgave me for throwing a bread roll at her at Marco Pierre White’s birthday," Piers told OK! Magazine. "She was just being really obnoxious, not just to me, but generally. "There was only 40 of us at this dinner party and she got annoyed because Bernard Manning started being offensive and that wound her up. "She was with Guy Ritchie at the time and he’d been laughing his head off… I just picked up a bread roll and chucked it at her!" Piers claimed Madonna was "attention seeking" and boldly claimed her "15 minutes of superstardom has probably run its course". As for Madonna herself, she has never actually addressed any of Piers' claims or hit back at the presenter, who banned her from his CNN show.

14 JAN 2020 A hapless burglar who tried to break into the Embassy Club in Harpurhey was arrested within minutes after leaving a trail of blood in his wake. Police say the suspect tried to climb through two windows he'd smashed at the Harpurhey club, once owned by the late Bernard Manning, but tripped the alarm and cut himself in the process. Officers were on the scene within five minutes and followed the trail of blood to find and arrest the suspect in his 'super secret hiding place'. In a post on Facebook GMP Manchester North on Tuesday morning, officers wrote: " Busy night on Friday 10th January for our officers. "There was an attempted burglary at the World Famous Embassy Club – thanks to our rapid response officers who were on scene within 5 minutes!
"Although the burglar wasn’t exactly top class managing to smash 2 windows thus tripping the alarm.
"Potentially due to struggling fitting through the first window (second times the charm they say) led to the ingenuity of the burglar smashing the second identically sized window. "The offender then managed to cut himself on some broken glass thus leaving a nice trail of blood for the officers to follow to his super-secret hiding place for when they arrived. "PC Nathaniel was tempted to stay for a quick pint but, the job comes first and it was time to get this criminal booked in and then it’s on to the next!" The club was opened by Manning in 1959 and during its heyday punters travelled from around the country to visit the club, with Cilla Black and Englebert Humperdinck among the famous faces to have performed there. Regular shows stopped after Manning retired in 1999 and the club was also run by his son Bernard Manning Jr for a time. Following Manning 's death aged 76 in 2007, his ashes were used to make a mosiac of the late comic over the front door.

Madonna Carpool Karaoke
Piers claimed the pair had never really seen eye-to-eye and cited the bread roll, as well as an incident at the Cannes Film Festival involving a photographer and a bodyguard. He also referenced an incident involving a pub where his brother Rupert was manager, which was owned by Madonna's ex-husband Guy Ritchie. But it gets worse, as Piers explained: "You know the worst thing Madonna did to me? Madonna’s publicist once said to me, ‘Listen to me, Madonna is not pregnant,’ when I was running a newspaper. And I said, ‘Are you sure?’ She said, ‘Listen to me, Piers. Madonna is not pregnant.’ "The next day, they announced [the news] on a rival newspaper's website. There's a series of crimes."
Madonna Carpool Karaoke
In December 2016, Piers took great offence at Madonna's Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden on his The Late Late Show. After watching a clip of her twerking and revealing she once kissed Michael Jackson, Piers said: "I loved Madonna when she acted her age. You can't be 58 and prancing about. "I want her to just put it away... my mother just text me, saying 'do not show that clip of Madonna in the car'... and she speaks for middle England." Then in May 2019, Piers branded the popstar "grotesquely offensive" for appearing to wear a burka out in public. He branded the singer "shameless" and called her an "attention seeker" for opting to cover herself head-to-toe in all black while at JFK airport in New York, accusing of "mocking" Muslims with her incognito outfit. Taking to his Mail Online column, an angry Piers fumed: "She knew exactly what she was doing, because it’s the same thing she’s been doing for 40 years: shameless attention-seeking.
Madonna's veiled bid for attention with a burka-style face-covering looks in very poor taste. 10th May 2019
For years she has practised a unique kind of religious sedition, mocking her own Roman Catholic faith in songs and videos. She even once staged a mock crucifixion which caused worldwide headlines and had Pope Benedict XVI demanding she be excommunicated from the Catholic Church — job done. It is certainly hard to stomach the sight of the self-styled old feminist warhorse wearing what, for some, is such a symbol of female oppression; a simple piece of fabric that has caused so much controversy across the globe. Some fans have suggested online that Madonna was perhaps behind this sacred mask to hide some post-procedural facial swelling or bruising. If that is the case, it makes matters even worse. In some countries, women are fighting for the right not to wear this repressive item of clothing. Yet is this one of the richest and most celebrated women on the planet sticking one on for vanity's sake, merely to hide a bit of cosmetic enhancement? Let's hope that is not true. However, it does have echoes of the 2015 fiasco when Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen was caught in Paris in a full-length burka, hoping not to be noticed as she checked into a plastic surgery clinic. It is deeply offensive that one woman would use another's religious attire just to avoid public and media detection.
Piers Morgan continues: "Only this time, when I stopped laughing at the headlines, I suddenly realised that her latest publicity-grabbing move wasn’t actually very funny at all. It was actually grotesquely offensive." Although he clearly holds the Material Girl singer in high regard as he declared himself as an A-list celebrity on the basis of having more Twitter followers than her. The following month, Piers launched into a furious tirade against Madonna on Good Morning Britain after she announced she would be taking the helm of her own biopic, focusing on her music and co-written with Academy Award winner Diablo Cody. Piers gave fresh life to his feud with Madge as he branded her "pathetic" and "embarrassing" and even took a swipe at her relationship with Ahlamalik Williams.
He remarked: "When she did Holiday, she was the best popstar in the world. No question. Now it's just pathetic watching Madonna now. Pathetic. Everybody finds her pathetic and now we're having a biopic."
Not one to back down, Piers continued: "She's 62 now going on 20. The act doesn't work. It's embarrassing. "She doesn't know how to age gracefully. She's trying to act the age of her boyfriends. I think the latest one's about - what is he, 18? They're always older than her kids, I know that."

Jeremy Clarkson.
In October 2003, journalist and television personality Jeremy Clarkson emptied a glass of water over Morgan during the last flight of Concorde in response to some photographs published in the Mirror. In March 2004, at the British Press Awards, Clarkson punched Morgan three times during another argument.
Historic flight: On November 26, 2003, fledgling photographer Lewis Whyld took this shot of the Concorde on its last-ever flight, over the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, western England.
Concorde had a takeoff speed of 250 mph (400 kph), a cruising speed of 1,350 mph (2,160k ph/Mach Two) up to 60,000 ft, and a landing speed of 187mph (300kph). The aircraft’s maximum takeoff weight was 408,000 lbs (185 tons). In November 1986, a BA Concorde flew around the world in 29 hours and 59 minutes, covering 28,238 miles.
Concorde used the most powerful pure jet engines used for commercial flight. The aircraft’s four engines, Rolls-Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593s, each producing 38,000lbs of thrust, used reheat technology, which added fuel to the final stage of the engine, producing the extra power required for take-off and the transition to supersonic flight.
Concorde made the fastest transatlantic crossing on February 7, 1996, flying from New York to London in 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 59 seconds. The aircraft’s fuel capacity was 26,286 Imperial gallons (119,500 liters) and its fuel consumption was 5,638 Imperial gallons (25,629 liters) per hour.
With a wingspan of 83 ft 8 in (25.5 m), a height of 37 ft 1 in (11.3 m), and a fuselage width of 9ft 6 in (2.9 m), Concorde was 203 ft 9 in (62.1 m) long and stretched between 6 and 10 inches in flight due to airframe heating. It was painted in specially developed white to accommodate these changes and dissipate the heat generated by supersonic flight.
British Airways withdrew Concorde on October 24, 2003, effectively ending the world’s only supersonic passenger service. G-BOAG operated the final scheduled commercial flight from JFK, BA002.
British Airways’ seven Concorde aircraft were later dispersed for preservation in Barbados (AE), Edinburgh (AA), Filton (AF), Manchester (AC), New York (AD), and Seattle (AG), with one plane (AB) remaining at LHR.
In 2015, the BBC elected not to renew Clarkson's contract after he assaulted a Top Gear producer while filming on location. Clarkson and his Top Gear co-presenters and producer Andy Wilham formed the production company W. Chump & Sons to produce The Grand Tour for Amazon Prime Video.
Why did Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson fall out?
Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan’s fallout occurred after Piers – who was a newspaper editor at the time – published photos of Clarkson with a woman who wasn’t his wife in 2002. Despite Clarkson’s pleas not to run the story, Piers did, and as a result his wife and children were left upset by the fallout. In 2003, during Concorde’s last ever commercial flight, Jeremy and Piers were sat next to each other, and the then-Top Gear host made his feelings known by pouring water over him. Speaking on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, he said: ‘I was on its last commercial flight they sat me next to the lavatory, or Piers Morgan as you know him. ‘I poured a glass of water over his crotch, so when he got off, it looked like he’d wet himself.’
At the 2004 Press Awards, Jeremy ended up punching Piers several times in the face. It’s not known what escalated the incident at that time, but following the Concorde incident, the dislike of each other had been known. Jeremy ended up breaking his little finger in the altercation, as he had a ring on at the time, and Piers got a scar above his eye. In a swipe at the incident, Piers sneered: ‘My three-year-old hits me harder than that.’ How did Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan become friends again? After keeping the bitter feud going for a decade, Piers revealed in his Daily Mail column back in 2014 that he had cleared the air with Clarkson. In a British tradition – a five-hour drinking session to let their feelings out – the pair ended things on more amicable terms. In 2017, Piers even snapped a photo of them together in Saint Tropez, and joked: ‘Bumped into an old mate in St Tropez last night… and we didn’t even punch each other.’ and they even worked together on a charity special of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in 2020, but Piers was humiliated when he crashed out with just £1,000.
Jeremy said at the 2004 British Press Awards I ran into Piers Morgan, who said something unkind about my wife. “So, even though I was calm and sober, having just come from a recording of Call My Bluff, I hit him and immediately a gang of portly hacks gathered round, chanting, 'Finish it', while the motoring editor of The Sun held everyone back by warning them that he was from Newcastle."
It seems celebrities detest anyone famous or unknown speaking about there wife or family without permission. Whack, Will Smith walks up to Chris Rock at the Oscars ceremony 2022 and slaps him around the face in anger at his comments directed at his wife. Rock had joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, as being ready for “GI Jane 2” – seemingly a reference to her shaved head. (Pinkett-Smith has been open about having alopecia, which causes hair loss.) Smith then walked to the stage, slapped Rock, and sat back down, before shouting “keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth” twice.
Oisin Tymon. After a lengthy rant, Clarkson landed the blow that would not only draw blood, but that would also see the star suspended from the BBC and the future of Top Gear looking very bleak.
It seems Jeremy Clarkson can get angry on other occasions too, the Top Gear presenter is reported to have called producer Oisin Tymon a “lazy Irish c***” before he threw a punch that split the producer’s lip and landed the Irishman in hospital. The incident occurred after Clarkson and his co-stars Hammond and May arrived by helicopter from their Dunsfold test track location to Yorkshire (a distance of around 225 miles) to continue with the shoot. They had been due to arrive at 8pm, but the flight was delayed by two hours because the trio (presumably lead by Clarkson and May) wanted to continue drinking. On their arrival, Clarkson is reported to have been enraged that hot food was not immediately available. It is also reported that Clarkson said that he’d see to it that Tymon would be losing his job.
In 2012, following the revelation of Jimmy Savile's sexual abuse against children, Morgan said he had "never met" Savile in his lifetime, contradicting a 2009 piece he wrote in The Mail on Sunday's Night & Day magazine saying that "As I left, Jimmy Savile came up to me. 'Your TV shows are BRILLIANT!, he exclaimed. ... I've always loved Jimmy Savile."
Paedophile Jimmy Savile is the subject of a new Netflix documentary. He never faced justice for his actions
John Cleese
Morgan has repeatedly clashed with actor John Cleese. In 2015, Cleese stated that he "truly detested" Morgan and had avoided him in a restaurant. He also said he thought Morgan was "in jail", erroneously stating that Morgan had "admitted" to authorising phone-hacking. Morgan responded that the "revulsion" between them was "mutual". When Cleese's tweet about detesting Morgan became his most popular to date, Cleese said "clearly I must insult the slimy, attention-seeking little prole more often". Morgan joked that he was glad to have been able to make Cleese "popular again". In 2017, Cleese told Radio Times: "I always thought he was an awful creep [...] I just didn't want to have an encounter with him and since then he's been after me and I've been after him."
